Chanel No. 5 : Audrey Tautou and Travis Davenport by Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Audrey

She is so lovely and beautiful, a wonderful choice for Chanel No.5. She's so much more fresh and interesting than Nicole Kidman. I can't wait to see this!

I read in the Audrey Tautou thread that the commercial has been posted on Chanel's website.

Update: go to chaneln5.com. You can view the film there.

After watching the commercial, I'm disappointed. It's not grand or fantastical. I agree with FrenchCactus's assessment of it as "Amelie takes the train to Turkey."

The potential of exotic Istanbul is there; with a few edits, it could've been great. I prefer Nicole Kidman's No. 5 commercial.

meh

it's less "Amelie takes the train to Turkey" and more "Travis in: Orient Express Psycho Killer". am i the only one who gets his psycho killer look? i like him as a model (he's a skater, i can't help it) but he fails at portraying "love" and "passion" and "infatuation", but basically skips to "crazy obsession".

he creeps me out during his scenes. shame.

there's no real "joie de vivre" portrayed. i don't want to buy myself into the fantasy of sleeping in a noisy train for too long, with a cute, but potentially crazy stalker outside my compartment!

the progression of the 2 minute version creeps along, we spend TOO MUCH TIME in Audrey's compartment. instead we should have had her exploring places. making stops.

Nicole's ad has that gorgeous soundtrack, the starstruck love story. Kiera's Coco Mademoiselle ad, i don't know, i didn't want it to end! she was really having fun, a carefree spirit with a gorgeous apartment. the recent Miss Dior Cherie ad, so much fun! Flora by Gucci, partially strange, but i love the etheral scene, the airiness of everything.

THOSE are fantasies people would want to buy themselves into. not cute crazy person on the Orient Express.

^i agree with you. the cinematography was great, its his style, but the story did not play out right and maybe a different male model would have been better. still pretty to look at though.. the commercial that is.

now we just have to get it on youtube, because i don't have the app. to watch it on my schools' computer  :(

^ I tried uploading but YouTube won't convert! Eeeek..

If we're talking luxury and fantasy of Chanel no.5 then, of course, Baz Luhrman's film is better.
But I think the idea of this one is just the fragrance itself. I expected nothing more or less than what Jeunet delivered. It's very him, and I love it.
He incorporated the scent well, which I imagine is pretty difficult, especially if you want to be more original than a man stopping in his tracks as an attractive model passes him by.

I like it as a piece of film, although the fragrance does seem kind of incongruous in the context of the ad. But I always felt that the Baz Luhrman one was a bit cheesy, so I can't say that I prefer it.

I just watched it on my msn home page. I don't really understand it. At more than one point,I thought he was going to burst into her room and r*pe her, that's the feeling I got from it anyway. Audrey looks fantastic, as does the whole advert really, but I just don't understand the concept of it.

*edits*

And also at more than one point I expected Harry Potter to appear, and Dementors too, especially the shot of the train going over the bridge

wow, it's very jeunnet, but not very chanel. i didn't feel love between them, i felt obsession, which is not something you want associated with your perfume unless it is, actually, obsession by calvin klein.

and the whimsy is not as good as coppola's in the miss dior cherie ads, in my opinion.

I watched the commercial on TV last night and I liked it a lot. I think the cinematography is beautiful, effective and would certainly attract people to go and have a smell of it.

I like it audrey is adorable, very diff from the kidman's ad... and love the song!!

I love the film, I could watch it all day. Now I just can't wait for the print ad.

When i saw the commercial i was left with a feeling of ''Thats it?''I thought there was going to be a grand finale or something more theatrical. The cinematography is quite beautiful ,but too boring compared to tehir previous.
