Charlene Wittstock, Princess of Monaco

Her outfit at National Day is very glamorous and very classic, but her fake and forced attitude ruins everything...she was simply not made for this role, let's face it!

from daylife
I love her hairstyle similar to Grace kelly as actress:

Could agree with you more, Ivsrtatus and Ascotmanor.

The Armani Prive gown looked divine on the model, but not on Charlene. Whom ever is advising her should be fired. The constant Grace Kelly hairstyles and clothing do not work for her. Charlene needs to find her own look instead of copying her dead soon to be mother in law. It's completely tacky.

Really love the look of Charlene... She looks perfect !!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely gorgeous and I love a lot her hairdo.

I recently noticed her after the Huffington Post ran a "story" on her Memorial Day style. At first glance I thought she looked great (minus the hat), then I noticed how others around her were dressed. She looked out of place and over-done. Like the girl who showed up at the party completely overdressed and everyone laughed (behind her back, of course).
After going through her thread, I have mixed feelings on her. She's obviously trying too hard (plastic surgeries, teeth, Grace Kelly channeling) but at the same time, I feel like she has the "basics" to become a stylish person. I doubt she will ever be a style icon but with the right pieces she could really make a (good) name for herself.
At the end of the day though, Charlene looks uncomfortable and out of place. Until she can overcome that and become more natural, she probably won't do much for me.

I agree. She needs to stop looking, dressing and acting like Grace did. It doesn't work for her and is so transparent. If she would just be herself instead of what she thinks a princess should be then it might change my perspective of her. She seems like she's definitely changed since she first got together with Albert.

But on another note, what does this say about Albert? Does he really want to marry a (bad) clone of his mother?:innocent:

Albert is the one who paid for all those surgeries. I'm just saying'... :innocent:

Charlene needs to start dressing for her body type and that includes banning herself from ever wearing halter tops and gowns.

It will be interesting to see how she evolves in respect to her fashion choices.

Many people keep saying she's copying off of Princess Grace, but I think she's pulling from Princess Diana's 1980s closet. The gowns are always so glitzy or dramatically draped and the suits and hats are so flamboyant in design.

I personally think she wants to stand out and catch everybody's attention. Which isn't a bad thing, but I think she forgots that she has two future sister-in-laws who know how to steal back attention if they want it. (Granted, Caroline and Stephanie have settled down but I bet they could upstage Charlene if they wanted to.)

She looked ridiculous in her wannabe-princess outfit. She ruined the AP dress and why was she the only one not dressed in black??

Runway models of the Armani suit and gown

style.com, fashionbomdaily.com
The light color of the gown, her skin color and the pale shawl like tulle only accentuated her broad shoulders. Her suit was a little too snug, but overall she is making steps in the right direction with her fashion choices and in time she will pull it all together. Although, I do think that both the dress and the gown should not have been so snug and form-fitting. The bodice of the gown was changed and made her bust a focal point of attention. I noticed that the runway model does not look as if she was poured into her outfits.

She still looked out of place in the suit when everyone else was wearing black. I'm sure she could have picked a suit that wasn't so "loud." But she probably wanted to stick out and she sure did...just not in a good way.

The problem with her is her shoulders...
Btw, it was Monaco's Day not Charlene's day, it seems like she wanted to bring attention (more than she already was going to have, because obviously everyone was expecting to see her there) so, as everyone were in black, she was in beige. And with that hat!
No, it's a big no imo.
And the gala dress...another Armani. The dress itself is gorgeous, but on her, it just doesn't look right.

I prefer she was not dressed in black,is so sad and boring all in black imo....
Why is bad trying to imitate Grace kelly?,she was the top in elegance,an icon of style,is normal she wants to look like her.....

It's not that is bad, it's that Grace was unique, and Charlene has to find her own style. She looks like she wants to be her mother in law and that's not nice.

Becaue of her engagement, she is now in the position of potential criticism no matter what she wears. Look at the dress that Caroline wore to the same event.
Very beautiful, but also reminiscent of a negligée. What if Charlene wore this? Caroline carried it off very well, but if Charlene wore it......

Unfortunately, people criticized her long before her engagement to Prince Albert.

The Armani Prive suit wasn't awful; however, it just didn't look right on Charlene's figure. The shoulder pads on the jacket only accentuated her large shoulders.

:)

I am great fan of Grace Kelly, she was the most cute and elegant, unique, but for me ,although there will never be another Grace Kelly, imitating her style is an homage to her:flower:
