Chloe S/S 06 Paris

Is that really Chloe? That orange monstrosity is a Chloe coat?

I can see how tis an ok collection..a lot of stuff is very typical Chloe...maybe not that orange coat though

I guess that Chloe is trying to find a new direction but it's really not what they are good at. I didn't see any nice shapes, immaculate cuts, or lovely colors. How the hell can they charge the ridiculous price!

it's quite a jump but i think it's appropriate and still fitting with the direction the label is going.

it feels a little bit like prada to me.

It feels like what Prada should have been like, minus the lace. Prada did nothing for me.

for some reason i feel a little bit of a stefano pilati inspiration. seems very ysl for some reason.

i would love to see the rest

^I was gonna say that I saw YSL in this collection as well. I like it though...very simple sillhouettes - the oversized tops and the dramatic coats.

personally, i love the change - i was just thinking today that i hoped she wouldn't do another 70's inspired, easy breezy collection ....i like that she's expermenting, and i think she can afford to, seeing how enourmously popular the label is. if anything , at least customers can always count on the best cut pants in the business! oh, and her baby is tooo cute! (her husbands not bad either)

thank you so much for keeping this thread on the topic of chloe.

i like this so far...i like the colors and layering, the lace...i could do without the shoes, but then again i could do without many shoes...i'm so picky.

i like the tie outfit on carmen cass..i love it with the skirt!

and i really, really love the burnt-orange colored coat in post #26 a lot!

I consider myself a huge Chloè fan. In every season i always find a warm place in their pieces, their fabrics and their well picked colour palet. I didn't care if all the designers went wrong or anything, I knew phoebe will never dissapoint me.It's not the entire collection, but I hate the colours, I hate the shape...I mean you don't want to be a Balenciaga girl, or a Prada girl...if you're a Chloè girl.I don't know what she is doing with the label.

Also, I must add a little plus, It looks very aging.
I think in the first pic, there is a horrible boring portfolio bag.
And i will never get into a rabious orange outfit.
How sad.

I agree Doloritas. I remember getting some Chloè hand-me-downs from my mother when I was at the tender age of 15.. I'll always remember my first Chloè shirt and perfect fit jeans (and prom dress!). The label's clothes has always been breezy, feminine, with a touch of coyness, all the time maintaining an intelligent and understated sexy look.

What happened? What is this balloon/pear shape? And the overall/smock (whatever it is) 'dress'? The Air Force 1 shirt and tie?

I dearly hope the rest of the collection does not follow suit..

i like the orange coat tres nice - yet i dont like the colour! and this is just dredful

Review from style.com:

PARIS, 10? 8, 2005 – Phoebe's back, and you can tell. Returning after a season's maternity leave, Philo sent out a collection that put a crisp new shape, proportion, and vigor into Chloé's step. "I just wanted to do volume; something new," she said of the pristine A-line shapes and stiffer couture fabrics she used to replace the drifty layers that launched a gazillion copies last year. Now Chloé has a fresh look: It flares from the shoulder, stops above the knee, and swings leggily along on great chunky platforms.

White dresses, derived from looking at sixties ruffled shirts, were intricately worked in crunchy embroidery, organza appliqués, and frills. Immaculate as confirmation outfits, they breezed airily through the trends: a baroque pattern on a smock; table-linen cutwork curlicues on a ruffled-shoulder A-line dress. To counterpoint that, Philo introduced a new structure for her tailoring, cutting neatly fitted, pressed-linen sixties coats, and stiff little cropped jackets. All this came about, she said, from her research into 1960's "old lady chic." By the time she finished with it, of course, the "old" had thoroughly evaporated: This was a vision that will speak directly to Philo's generation of young women. One clear hint of the inspiration remained, though: the in-joke names with which she christened the new Chloé bags. There was Marge, the little snake evening purse on a silver chain; Edith, the conker-color washed-leather bag; and Gladys, the zip-laden tote. And for her own bow on the runway, Phoebe was wearing the other key accessory for spring: Lilian, the striped elastic belt.

I have never liked Chloe by Pheobe Philo, and this show hasn't change my mind. I consider the 70s inspired Chloe from Philo boring, tricksy, gimmicky, "oh-so-vintage" and not at all original, and this s/s show is simply pretentious, IMO, she's someone so greedy who wanna try so many "new-to-her things": the maternity dress, oversized silhouette, the colour, the neo-minimalism that we are experiencing. This no frills (in Chloe's standard) show completely trashed all the "good works" that Philo has archieved at Chloe. She totally lost "her" mind, identity and visionary, if she has ever got any. I mean, she doesn't drape as god as Rick Owens or Donna Karan, and she doesn't do pretty as good as Oli Theyskens or Nine Ricci by Lars Nilsson, nor is she as strikingly evolved as Proenza Schouler. This show shows her real "talent", somehow which was actually very limited.

Overall, I think the collection was satisfying, but definitely a different look for Chloe. The first couple of outfits were disappointing especially the outfit with the tie and ruffled skirt.
Not a big fan of the zippered gray and black bags, but love the Edith.
I've warmed up to the collection, ESPECIALLY the shoes.
