Chloe Sevigny

I really love her short hair! It feels so fresh. And contrary to what someone previously said, i think she's just doing her own thing as usual. She's known for her quirk and out of the box looks and this just seems like a natural evolution for her.

...but her style has always been like this, it's not like she's trying to fit in with the crowd.

those looks are horrible and pictures are from unflattering angle...I mean, that is unflattering for her. and that short hair does nothing for her. I used to like her but now...she seems such a try hard to stay hip and young hahah

I have to argue that if you were an avid follower of her style over the years you'd see that she's actually very consistent. Her designs are true to her style growing up and she's always worn oversized varsity jackets, denim jackets, pieces tied around her waist and clashing prints. The pieces are refreshing, and I think that she's paired it back exceptionally with more modern gore-skirts and dresses.

I think that, compared to Alexander Wang's take on the Varsity, preppy look - Chloe has made it her own by introducing interesting prints of profiles of faces, and bright overalls. If anything you could argue that Wang's recent foray into the same look was a failure because he didn't make it at all individual. The details were there but it was just re-worked pieces. Chloe's collection has much more personality and is well-rounded. :flower:

I actually disagree. I used to think Chloë's style was different and at times quirky. These days, she seems to be following trends, rather than marching to the beat of her own drum. Her style has turned kind of cliché and 'kewllll'.

yea i liked her so much when she originally had a very short bob and wore ysl and balenciaga all the time and never wore anything trendy .. she looked so european and mature compared to all the boring hipsters or whatever you call them these days. she still looks great, its just not the same

I really don't understand what is so different? Even when she was younger, she sometimes wore hipster attire. Not all the time, but she put certain elements in her clothing and gave it her own twist, something she does now. Besides, she only really 'hipster-ish' at smaller events when she's with Terry Richardson and that crowd. When she gets dressed up, she looks pretty much the same as in those pictures you posted. Either very daring or elegant. Of course she doesn't look exactly the same, but she's allowed to grow up, no?

I don't know about you, but she just looks the same to me, which is why I love her. She still wears YSL and Balenciaga. Not all the time. Why does she have to? She also doesn't look trendy in these outfits, either.

You're absolutely wrong. She never takes inspiration from her personal style. She's gone through so many phases, dressing conservative to wacky when her mood changes. You forget that she was apart of many movements when she was younger: riot grrrl when she was younger, apart of the disco movement, punk, skater. She takes inspiration from her younger days in New York and often what she wore when she was younger and has given it a contemporary twist with graphic prints and leathers.

Although she seems like she plays around with it (her style), I think she's just trying to dress her age a bit more. Not that she's old or anything...

P.S. - My intentions are not to make the first bit of my sentence sound naughty. I had to go ahead and edit it a bit.

actually i didnt mean she is taking inspiration from her early days, i just meant to say (and im sorry because i truly am inarticulate) that i personally loved the way she dressed when she had a very short bob, and also when she began dressing more feminine and womanly in versace as well. and im not saying she's dressing badly or uber-hipster or trendy, i just prefer her looks at that time

that is all :) !

Marjanthelion I can't help but notice that pretty much all the looks you have posted on the previous page are Couture! Her "off red carpet" style is very different and The OC line is an example of the things she has always loved-liberty and leopard print etc....She can't help it that half the world is only just catching up. She has always been into these things

A short interview with Chloë during the presentation of the collection:

A Moment With...Chloë Sevigny

(NEW YORK) Chloë Sevigny has brought her relaxed, self-declared “alterna-girl” style to Opening Ceremony for the last three seasons, and for Pre-Spring 2011, she brewed up a series of frocks, knitwear, accessories and shoes. The Daily caught up with the actress and designer in the garden outside Opening Ceremony in Soho for her presentation/tea party, and chatted about her adoration of prints, dressing like a Mormon, and why she’s rooting for LeBron James.
EMILY POPP

Congrats on your third season with OC.
Thank you! It’s pretty small; there are 25 dresses, five different silhouettes and five different patterns. A lot of knitwear, shoes, accessories and bags. I was just thinking about my closet and how I buy the same thing over and over again. I will buy one dress and want to have it made with different fabrics, so I thought why not try different silhouettes with different patterns, so people can choose a silhouette and have it in a variety of prints. I just wanted to have fun with it—keep it young and carefree.

You’ve always been a print enthusiast.
To be honest, I like prints because they detract from the face! [laughs] Really, I’ve just always loved a print. It reminds me of what I used to wear in high school. Very Natalie Merchant, you know? It has this timeless, alterna-girl look. I still dress like how I did has a senior in high school, but with a higher heel.

Is it a relief to dress like a Mormon for half the year?
I love it. I love my character and her wardrobe, but now she’s kind of going through something and her outfits have changed. She’s more modern now. She wears miniskirts. I prefer the older stuff, actually, 'cause it’s just easier.

You’re close with a lot of designers, the Proenza boys especially. Is there any friendly competition between you and Jack and Lazaro, or is it all in good fun?
I feel like it’s such a different thing with a completely different price range that it can’t even be compared. This is streetwear with a much lower price point. I was doing a shoot the other day and they said they wanted to shoot my dress. I was like, yeah, next to a $5,000 Balenciaga? It’s just not gonna work! I mean, I love mixing high and low, but this is streetwear, not high fashion. So I feel like there’s no competition against my high fashion designer friends.

Which do you covet more: a CFDA Award or an Emmy?
An Emmy. Acting is my first love, always. This is my hobby—something I like to do on the side for fun.

New York is your home, but is there anything you miss about L.A.?
No, no! I don’t miss anything about L.A.! Well, actually when I’m working there, I get to sit in my makeup chair, catch up on the news and read the New York Times and the New York Post every day, 'cause I don’t want to look in the mirror. And I also get to listen to the radio in L.A..

Do you drive?
I grew up in the suburbs so I do have a driver’s license. I drive around in my Prius.

And speaking of Opening Ceremony...are you a sports fan?
I’m a big basketball and baseball fan, but I’m not following the World Cup. I hate soccer and tennis, too. No interest in those things. Only basketball, really. I’m rooting for LeBron to come to the Knicks!

Aww :blush::heart:
I love how she doesn't take fashion too seriously.
