Chloe Sevigny

^ I agree - Classic Chloë.

Better. Better better better better better better. Not one of Chloë's best, but still miles better than anything she has served us in recent months. I only wish the silhouette was just a tweak clearer.

How does that denim jacket sneak into every one of her looks, though? How? How does it do it?

Looks like she has stopped dyeing her hair blonde for the time being, though. I wonder if this could be an opening for a new, non-blonde hair color in the future...? (Blonde looks great on her, but I love to see people try new looks.)

Haha, I actually have to agree, though I was initially pretty excited about the new do. I think when she cut her hair, though, she started to relive her early '00s (Imitation of Christ) style, but the way she's tried to merge that with today's trends hasn't really succeeded a lot of the time (though there has been a couple of great recent looks from her as well imo).

And personally, some of her recent off-the-red-carpet choices have felt more like something stemming from an ignorance of "style" (or perhaps her love/hate relationship with her fashion icon status; maybe pushing the limit for her own amusement?) than a desire to appear in any way "hip". Ironically, that casual randomness seems to translate to exactly the opposite -- appearing try-hard. That black fringe horror fest alone is a pretty good example of this.

Judging from her interviews and recent fashion choices, I just don't think Chloë values her fashion icon status as much as her fans do, and slapping on whatever is just a "passive" expression of that. I say 'passive', because I don't feel she wants to actively reject being a style icon, rather I think she just has no particular interest in maintaining it.

My problem isn't really that, though; it's that her style has gotten so predictable and joyless lately. Apart from one or two bright spots, her fashion choices have been dreary grey or black from 2010 onwards, and have gradually become more and more downright butch than just femininely masculine (or masculinely feminine). Her style was much more visually interesting in e.g. 2007, not to mention 2003-2005. I really miss that.

Well put and I do agree. I think the ignorance of style is something a lot of people have been going through, including myself. With fashion being in fashion everyone today appears to have a say in it so to reject it is quite natural. Having fashion status as an actress isn't what it used to be with the influx and demands of every actress having to be a fashionista. We're stuck with two types of fashion 'icons' (hate that word but I can't find a better one): the real ones, who you can see have a genuine interest in fashion and finding their own style and the manufactured ones, who are built on hype and don't seem to have a real sense of style and just follow the natural quota of style (the pretty, hot and beautiful looks), usually with the help of a stylist. Chloe is of the former ones but the market is crowded, and praising, the latter ones. So the rejection and her going for the 'ugly' fashion is understandable.

While I don't hate her style now, I still find it rather fun, she's still not at the top of her game. But everyone goes through different stages in their style and I'm sure we will see her back up sometimes soon. She's got it in her, we all know she does.

What have I told you about black, Chloë? :innocent:

I don't love it, but the make-up could be nice with another look, and the hair too, if it stopped trying to cover Chloë's face for a moment.

she looked like a priest and the hair aka curtains on her forhead aren't helping either.

^^ I didn't even know she attended the MET. That's the first pic I've seen of her.

I think she looks awesome:heart:, the dark glamour look works on her here and i love the little pearl pin and her hair looks good too:flower:

It all falls apart when you get to the bottom. Ugly sheer fabric and hideous shoes. Didn't mind the top actually. In the first picture I saw (see below), I thought she looked atrocious, but I guess it was just a bad angle. Overall, boring and shapeless.

Was that Molly Sims behind her? You can see a really gross and wrinkly knee inside an open panel in her skirt. Chloe looks hopeless.

Eeeeek she looks like a 'normal' person in the last photo...someone blending in with the crowd...
