SHADED LADY

NYLON cover star Chloë Sevigny cameos in Diane Pernet’s You Wear it Well.

No, you wont see Diane Pernet in florals this spring, but more exciting is the news that the fashion icon and author of the internationally infamous style blog, A Shaded View on Fashion, is bringing her film project to New York this week.

Going on the vision that traditional runway footage was selling the industry short, Pernet collaborated with Homeboy Films' Dino Dinco to create You Wear it Well. Already popular in Paris and Los Angeles, one of the over 25 video entries, by Marcelo Krasilcic, features NYLON cover star Chloë Sevigny disillusioned by dress after dress until she becomes enthralled by a Kai Kühne's design. Other contributors include Nick Knight, Gareth Pugh, Alexander McQueen, Jeremy Scott, and Dita Von Teese, to name a few. Said Pernet: “Call me presumptuous, but I would love it to become the Sundance of fashion videos.”

SKATER-ADE

Chloe Sevigny and The Beastie Boys team up for a NY skate film.

After a slew of movies about the L.A. skate scene (Lords of Dogtown and Wassup Rockers being the last of a long line), New York's skating community is serving it back with their own documentary, Deathbowl to Downtown.

The film follows the NY skating scene from the '70s to today, including its overlapping influences on graffiti, hip hop, punk, and pop scenes.

The story may be underground, but the film's helpers aren't: The documentary is narrated by NYLON cover girl Chloe Sevigny, and helped along by The Beastie Boys.

It debuts this weekend in select theaters, where even if you're never boarded before, you don't have to wear knee pads to get in on the hype.

Chloë Sevigney's Next Project: Unisex Menswear

21_chloe_lgl.jpg

Boy, oh boy, Chloë Sevigny's next line for Opening Ceremony will include menswear. She'll get started on it the next time she's in New York long enough to complete the project. (She told us it takes a long time and is hard to fit in with her Big Love shooting schedule.) But she hasn't stopped thinking of the ladies. She told Style.com her menswear line will double as womenswear:
"Not only did I want to do something for the guys in my life, but a lot of my girlfriends prefer to wear men's stuff," Sevigny told us, adding that girl versions won't have different tailoring; they will just come in smaller sizes. "I think what they like about men's clothes is the fit. So I don't want to change that. It'll be a new challenge."
Don't we call that unisex nowadays? So very quirky-Chloë of her! But boyfriend jackets are in for fall so maybe she's more style-savvy than her last collection would indicate. However, this begs the question: Will she account for lovely lady humps like breasts and hips? Loose-fitting jackets and pants might be in, but puckering most definitely is not.

Sonic Youth Reveal Starbucks Hits Comp Details
Radiohead, Beck, Flaming Lips, Mike Watt, Mike D, Flea join list of curators

Hey, remember the celebrity-curated Sonic Youth compilation put together by Starbucks? Well, it's finally coming out. Hits Are for Squares goes up for sale June 10 at select Starbucks stores and online via Starbucks Entertainment's Hear Music/Universal Special Markets.

The disc collects 14 Sonic Youth famous-people-favorites, plus one brand new and exclusive SY jam called "Slow Revolution". Among the celebrity curators: previously mentioned cats like Eddie Vedder, Dave Eggers, David Cross, and Chloë Sevigny, plus newly-announced SY-philes such as Radiohead, Beck, the Flaming Lips, Mike Watt, Flea, Mike D, Gus Van Sant, and, sigh, Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody. Jeff Tweedy and Marc Jacobs apparently didn't make the cut. Peruse everyone's selections in the tracklist printed below.

Thurston Moore initially dropped the Starbucks bomb on Pitchfork back in June 2007, joking, "Starbucks is the new record store, right?" Kim Gordon later remarked that Starbucks is "less evil than" Universal, parent to Sonic Youth's label, Geffen.

Yeah though I'm guessing picking a song didn't take up much time though lol. I know what you mean though, she seems to be everywhere recently.

She's a busy girl. Sonic Youth, Starbucks, and the Beastie Boys? I think I might have found my match for my boyfriend's affections.

And as well as that a men's line? I didn't think she was going to do that any time soon either.

You know what though, the fact that she's ready to make more clothes for Opening Ceremony makes me really, really happy. She got such crap reviews on her other stuff, but that's not going to hold her back. Inspirational!

She's constantly inspiring to me. Does anyone know when Lying is coming out - to theatres or dvd? I really want to see it.

As far as I know it went straight to DVD because it's so indie. Take a look on amazon or ebay!
