Chloe 'Silverado' Bag

What a horrible day!

I called Nordstrom IL to check on whether or not the other store had received my bag and shipped out the new medium that they assured me was in better condition. They received it today. Well, apparently there was some mistake somewhere along the way, because the new medium that they supposedly had waiting for me was tagged wrong and was actually a LARGE.

So Katie gave me 3 options:

1. Let them "repair" the used bag and clean out the crumbs and pet hairs and everything and ship it back to me. Although I don't know how they can repair the scales that are excessively curled and wrinkly and browning from the bag being used.

2. Pay the extra few hundred and get the large. I've already decided I didn't want the large after seeing different pictures of Lindsay Lohan's large and it was just way too duffely. Even for me.

3. Get on the waiting list for a different color, which I wouldn't get for another 2 months. But I don't like any of the new colors enough to get one. If anything, I'd get the brown but I dont like the brown/black combination.

The Nordstrom that I got the first one from will receive the bag back tomorrow morning and Katie said she would call me back tomorrow after she takes a look at it and sees what could be done with it.

I really had my heart set on the Natural color so I might just take that one back. But, I mean, shouldn't they give me some kind of discount on it, since it was used, looks excessively aged (up close), and also for all this hassle? In fact, they should give me the large for the medium price since they TOLD me that they had a medium waiting for me.

 What a hassle!

i'm sorry, Edna, that you're having so much trouble with this still...
i absolutely agree.. they SHOULD give you a discount for it as stores' return policies usually state that items, unless already defective to begin with, must be return UNUSED and in excellent condition... so with a bag in such terrible shape, they are at fault for taking it back in the first place and the customer should not have to bear any of the burden! unfortunately, i have no doubt that they are just being stubborn about it because it is such a hot item that there must be some poor sucker out there who would be willing to pay full price for it...

Okay, I called again to ask if there would be some kind of discount, and she said that whether I get the old used medium back or the new large, I'd get 20% off whichever one I decide on.

I did the calculations and after taxes it would be:

Medium - $1670
Large - $2035 (which is less than I originally paid for the medium)

Now the dilemma again...which one do I get!

When I tried the large white (?) on in the store, it looked awfully bulky, but it could be that it seemed that way because it was all one color. But I'm not sure if I want to take back the medium with its scales all curled up like that.

To all with pythons, when the scales curl over time, they will just be curled and wrinkly, correct? They wouldn't flake or peel off or anything?

Oops, I meant $2086 for the large, which is only $20 less than I paid for the medium.

you shouldn't let cost drive your decision on whether to get the large. if you felt it was too large before, it will be too large now, discount or not. even if the large is less than the retail price of the medium, it's $2000 and for $2000 you should be getting a bag you love, not one you're settling for. by that same token, don't keep the medium if you're unhappy with the condition. whether or not the 20% discount makes up for it having been used is your call. I don't see any defects from the pics you posted, but since you're the only one who has held and handled the bag, you're the only who can decide whether there is actually something wrong with it or if it's more the idea that someone used it that bugs you. I'd make repairing the bag the last resort since it's possible the bag will be in worse condition after you repair it (from handling and what not). you can certainly clean out the crumbs and hair yourself. and I don't know what anyone can do about curled scales and darkened leather -- they're both inevitable over time and with use anyway.

lilygirl makes an excellent point... go for the one that you LOVE...
if you got the medium, it seems you would be uncomfortable with the hair, crumbs and curled scales (which is inevitable anyway)
if you got the large, you would be uncomfortable with shape/size of the bag... which means you probably don't really like that particular bag itself... whereas what you don't like about the medium is something that occurs naturally... and something that would eventually occur on the large one anyway (perhaps even more quickly on the large).

Gosh that sucks Edna, sorry to hear about the debacle. Terrible of them. tsk

All are very good points! However, when I tried the large on in the store, I am pretty sure it was stuffed. So maybe that had something to do with it seeming so bulky? At any rate, I just decided to be difficult and go with the large. Katie was extremely helpful and answered all my questions. She said that if I didn't like the size of it, I could return it once again, because they are holding the medium one for me.

I'm torn between the 2 sizes just because, at certain angles, the bag looks good on Lindsay and she's just a little bit taller than me, and I do like large-ish bags. And also, I didn't really get a chance to look at the large on myself in the mirror because I was in a hurry. I only held it for a brief second.

Anyhow, it's a hassle, but it's the only way to know for sure! :) What can I say, I make a big deal out of everything!

Edna, you do deserve to get the bag that you are happy with for the amount that you are spending. :flower:
Since they are holding the medium for you too, take the large home with you for a day and think it over. I feel that you shuldn't have to settle for a medium that looks used, whether it was your first choice or not - personally I'd rather be the one "aging" the bag and that's the way it should be.

If you really don't like the large, perhaps you could wait for the next batch of silveradoes for S/S 06?
Hope things will work out for you.

I'm much much taller than Lohan and I found the large to be even too bulky & big for me (even w/out a lot of stuffing).

I've been in your situation where the frustration & endless waiting almost compel me to buy a bag...but Don't! If you're spending that much and you've waited this long, you should get a bag that you find 100% perfect.

Thanks for all your advice again! I was re-looking at different photos of the large and second-guessing my decision. Then, taitai, you just confirmed it for me (the bulkyness issue). I think I may just go with the first aged medium that I originally had. It's not 100% perfect but it's discounted. :) And as you all have said, the curling would have happened eventually anyway. I will just have to take extra special care of it.

And now that you mention it, chiangsi, I could always get another one in perfect condition when the S/S 06 silveradoes come out.

I have to make sure to call Katie first thing in the morning before she puts in the order for the large! ...I'm sure that I'm annoying the hell out of her. :innocent: But I know one thing is for sure, I am annoying the hell out of my boyfriend.

Hey! I am so sorry to hear that your problems keep persisting! Maybe you ought to go through with the order for the large, if they can hold on to the medium. At least if you have the large at home, you can have a bit of time to hold the bag, look at it in the mirror and even take photos of yourself with it. Then, at least if you change your mind and want the medium, you'll never regret your decision because you will have decided with all available information...

i think that brown leather one is quite nice...

Agreed. Maybe it's the more popular colour as it's no longer available on the NM website now...

Chloe Paris has finally brought in some leather silverados. They did not stock any for Spring-Summer 2005. Currently they have black, tan and grey. All in the Large only. ^_^

What's about the brown??? I think it's quite nice tho. baghag - Do you like the brown one lily posted??

Yes. The brown has an aged, vintage look. Have seen the actual red Medium leather one and is quite nice too. If the yellow ages well, it may not be too bad. But the brown is the best...and possibly the one which will be snapped up the fastest. Chloe's silverados look best in brown, for both the python and the calf ^_^

I love how the leather ones are really slouchy. And that brown color is gorgeous. I also saw the pinkish one (?) at Nordstrom last week and it was so beautiful. What are the prices of the leather ones?

Also, no one knows what colors are coming out for the python Silveradoes for S/S 06 yet, right?
