Chloe 'Silverado' Bag

There are a lot of knock-offs for the silverado already. When I was in Asia this summer, I even saw some bad replicas at a stationary section of a store (citysuper)!
Maybe off topic, but if you had to choose only one, which would you buy, paddington or silverado? Can they even be compared?

I think they can be compared. Similar shape, similar colors, somewhat similar style. I personaly like the silverado better, but thats just me, I tink most people like the paddington better. But if we're talking bowling paddy though which is my favorite style, I'm really not sure, I'll be able to tell as soon as I (hopfully) get mine

Bagqueen, not to doubt you, but the SA was talking about the python original cognac, and not the leather? I think there will be a cognac leather silverado.

My tan leather Silverado looks very much like cognac. It is about three shades darker than my tan Paddington and just gorgeous. I know the tan color varies in the Silverado; mine is very even in coloring throughout. Even the s/a who sold it to me remarked it was in the best condition she'd ever seen. Now I only have to try to keep it that way! While I'd still love the tote, my current Silverado is growing on me, and the side pockets create the extra space I am looking for.

If Chloe does make a cognac leather Silverado, I can't wait to see it!

I think the silverado is more structured and edgy, though i think the inspiration for it may have been something like casual cowgirl/biker meets citygirl.. sophisticated in a different way. But when it comes to the silverado, I feel like I would need to get a 'sharp' color like emerald green, etc. The brown python seems a little gucci-esque to me.

Paddy on the other hand seems easy to match with clothes, a more 'low maitenance' bag i think. I think as the paddy craze may be dying down (since everyone but me has one already) people are moving on the silverado, both gorgeous bags. I love the bowling paddy as well, guessgirl.. I want ALL of them!!

i've seen a leather silverado that looked veryvery similar to the original cognac... neimans usually doesn't use the same color names as the boutiques do, so that may be what bagqueen was referring to. i've found that usually if its around a medium brown, neimans and saks will call it cognac... whereas the boutiques may call it chocolat or marron (common with the french brands).

bagqueen - Were you referring to the Silverado Python in cognac or the all leather in cognac that NM NY will be receiving them in stock this month?

I've got the impression that you were referring to the Python skin one. Because I was disscussed with sasscam about the python skin in cognac and not the all leather one....I'm a bit confuse now.

Oh, no, Nordstrom managed to locate a tan Silverado tote at the Beechwood store, but it is a return. The s/a said it was from one of his own personal customers and he would definitely resell it. I inquired about condition and he went on about the natural flaws in the leather (scratches) that are not flaws in the bag. I was even bold enough to ask for a discount since it's a return but nope, not granted. I passed, and know I did the right thing (who knows how long the customer carried it around and where it's been...), but there are still regrets. Is it really worth $385 more than the traditional $1200 leather Silverado? I should just enjoy the one I have for goodness sakes!

Roey - don't feel bad, the tote is a bit awkward to carry. Mine is sitting in my closet. Its not an easy fit on your shoulder (definately not with a coat), so it turns into a handheld, arm held bag. The one advantage is that the bag is like a bucket so its easy to open and see where things are in the bag. You are better off getting a large silverado - at least all your stuff will not fall out if the bag tips. ;)

Thanks, Cougess, but I think I have a shopping disorder. While bored at my desk today at work I had a random thought, "Why not try to find the tote in chocolate since I already have the medium satchel?" For some reason, I don't like the satchel in chocolate leather, only the tan.

So, I called Saks in NYC and got some snotty s/a who yes, located the tote in the store but no, could not bother to pick up the bag and give me a description of the shape it was in. She was like, "Just put it on your Saks card; you'll get double points and can always return it". I reiterated that I wanted to know the bag was in good shape for the price tag. "I understand" she said. "Give me your card number and we'll ship it out and just return it if you don't like it". All she wanted to do was get me off the phone and reap her commission. GRRR. S/A's here in the northeast are incredibly rude. I much prefer shopping by phone on the west coast. I figure what the heck; she'd probably lie about the shape it is in and I might as well see for myself. If the tote is being discontinued I'd like to get my hands on one to satisfy the lemming as the only other color I've managed to find is black. The s/a was supposed to call back when the charge went through and never did.

Has anyone been in the NYC Saks store and are the Chloe bags on the floor for customers to grope at free will?

I do the same thing when I am bored at my desk! Anyway, keep us posted on the condition of the bag if you get it. I'm sure she sent it.

My Silverado tote arrived! :woot: It's perfect!! I finally connected with the s/a yesterday after she shipped the bag and she told me it was brand new stock. Aside from a few natural shadings, it's in really great shape, and the chocolate color does this bag much more justice than the traditional satchel. Now to find a time to take it out for its audition in the big bad world. :D

Hopefully I won't get the urge to locate another one "just to compare". :innocent: Or worse, decide I need it in another color! :o This and the tan satchel is enough Silverado...

tCongrats on your toe, roey! Of course post pics if you can :)

I really want a silverado tote, but it's not in my budget right now :(
