Christian Bale goes ballistic on the set of Terminator: Salvation!

This is so sad, such a pathetic tantrum, i can understand being pissed because someone ruined your scene, but going off like that?Oh pleasee save your drama and energy for actual movie, where they pay you for it.

But this happens alot on movie sets, i remember seeing poor Lily Tomlin being yelled at and called all kind of gross names on the movie set once by a director,it was awful.

I think this sort of thing is more common that people outside the industry realize.
Being on a set is rarely a 9-5 job.. it's tedious take overs and lots of waiting.
Coupled with the fact that most actors probably don't have whats called a phlegmatic personality.. sparks are bound to fly..

Christian Bale does come off bad.. which I'm sure was the intention of the sound technician who kept recording after the scene was ruined..

People you meet on your way up, you'll meet on your way down.

i don't know...this is my third post abot this 'event', just cause i love him so much in anyway...and now it's even kinda funny...i mean to yell that hard, really overreacting and rude...but again, why did they just stand there and said nothing...as you said, he's no god, he's a part of that like everyone else involved...that other guy coud've sad if you're calling me unprofessional, i could call you same...that tantrum was definetly not pro...
maybe it has to with the fact that around that time he had that incident with his mom and police...
but he's always so great with sibi, her dad, her daughter, friends...
by the way, who was he dating before her...?

Can't say I'm surprised. Anyone who's violent towards his MOTHER (and sister) is not to someone I admire. This whole thing is pretty brutal. These people, give them a little bit of fame and they think they can just walk all over people.

They were trying to extort money from him.

from justjared:
The angry 35-year-old actor was exposed yesterday for screaming and shouting at Director of Photography Shane Hurlbut for ruining a scene by walking onto the set of Terminator Salvation.
“I want you off the set! You prick!” Bale yelled at Hurlbut. “No, don’t just be sorry! Think for one f—ing second! What the f— are you doing? Are you professional or not?”
Bruce Franklin, an assistant director and associate producer on the fourth Terminator film, tells E! News that Bale is a “consummate professional” and he was just having a bad day.
“If you are working in a very intense scene and someone takes you out of your groove…It was the most emotional scene in the movie,” said Franklin. “And for him to get stopped in the middle of it. He is very intensely involved in his character. He didn’t walk around like that all day long. It was just a moment and it passed.”

that's exactly what I think about the whole situation

Yes!:rofl: I saw that too. Funny stuff. :D

I can't say I find this whole thing bizarre. Bale has always seemed to me to be a generally likable person who is probably a little bit troubled and obviously quite the hothead. I sympathize with him a lot and I don't hate him for this, but damn. I don't get how he justifies this in his head... movies require more than just the ever-so-gracious appearance of good looking actors. That guy is a professional too. Why would you go off on the DP of your film?:lol:

well as hanne and cherryblossoms alluded to,no one can even imagine what its like to be in character,in that moment especially if highly emotional, and have it completely ripped away,by some mere passer-by. i can understand the anger. perhaps he took it a bit far but the anger is justified, imo.

i think if you like some person, and even celebrety wise, its shouldn't take just this to change somebody's mind...of course he was rude and took it too far, but my god, how many people do even worse thing , in everyday life and in the celebrety world...and they are just people at the end of the day...erare humanum est...famous latin saying...it's human to make mistakes....
i'm also suprised at other ones who didn't know how to defend theirselves and tell him off...

I'm so glad to see his career isn't over because he's not always a male cheerleader. Gone are the days when mad geniuses the size of Orson Welles reigned Hollywood.

i don't get it though. christian bale goes ballistic when his craft is being disrupted yet you have irresponsible celebs who drive drunk or under the influence and never get the same "i've changed my mind about him or her" attitude afterward. just does not seem to warrant the same distaste. what is wrong with this picture?

sure its not right to treat people like this, but i've done theater work and still working, and being an actor is not easy, no matter how people believe the life of an actor is like. It takes mental, physical, and emotional commitment, and asking an actor to be in a certain place over and over again, not at the director's discretion is asking for much. Plus, it's not the first time that guy has done it, maybe Christian put up with him before.

his voice sounds so tired and strained in the clip.. i truly felt bad for him... the tantrum just went on too long, he needed to walk away and cool off for a moment.

i am not excusing this by any means... but anger brings out the ugly side of any human being and it's never pretty to see. but the bottom line is: it's human, and i don't think it's fair for anyone to sit here and jugde him. it happens to all of us to lose our cool when we are tired, under a lot of pressure and one small drop can manage to drive a person over the edge. God knows i have had tantrums and if someone had taped me i would have sounded just as awful probably.

i agree with you mnis and hanne... being an actor is no easy work, and his reaction (granted, exagerated) was at least not for a completely stupid and irrational reason. bale is knows to be a very serious and devoted actor to his craft, and i can't imagine the pressures that go into making these big budget movies. i think we all need to get off our high horses.

I disagree. It's pretty juvenile to not only get that mad in the first place, but stay that way as he did (it sounded like they had to hold him back from that guy at one point... ridiculous) and even more so, to totally lack restraint and just completely let loose on someone, apparently in front of the whole crew. The sky did not fall and that dude didn't singlehandedly destroy the entire movie; it was a mistake, an accident. It's not like he was whistling and strolling around on camera. No where else would Bale's behavior be acceptable, period. But since he's an artiste and especially because he's Christian Bale, people are falling over themselves trying to excuse it. He acted like a jackass and if he has a little bit of a fallout after this, I suppose he deserves it.

Still, though, I think Scott is right on and I agree with iluvjeisa too-- people expect their all favorite actors/musicians/etc. to be saints, which is not only impossible but quite boring as well. I don't think it's devastating that Bale isn't all peaches and cream, but I really don't get why people think it's funny or perfectly normal to act like he did.
