Christian Siriano S/S 11 New York

I like the way the show started off.....but the last dress is just bad!

It's like he hasn't found a happy medium yet.....i'm sure he will get there.

To me, everything looks cheap, and nothing original, and those awful prints!

The shoes are killer :woot: Does he do an accessories line or were these done by someone else for the brand?
I know he worked w/ payless before, but idk if that is still going on.

Christian cannot chose colors/fabrics. They never seem to be on trend and i am not sure if its the lighting, his choices, or both, but the fabrics always look so dull and matronly on the runway. I feel like the collection could be improved 100 percent by more vibrant colors/fabrics.

Errm ... imho I think its a step up from his last stuff ... and the thing that I find mostly intriguing is that I see something that reminds me of -actual- Ungaro on his pieces

The ruffles are ok .. but mostly the short dresses are the ones which seem .. lacking.

Either entirely generic or absolutely hideous.
The desert trend that is showing in NY right now took form as Donna Karan S/S 07 with Siriano.

he definitely needs help with fabric choices. but if you look at the timeline, this is only the second season he's using prints. his first few seasons were all solids, so that tells me he's still learning and evolving. Hopefully he will get better in time.

Aside from the big red ruffled monstrosity, it looks very nice. I especially love that vivid blue gown.

I've been saying that since his Project Runway days. He didn't have an eye for color/fabrication then and he doesn't seem to have one now, either.

Overdesigning aside I just don't think his clothes look expensive or luxurious, and I believe his stuff is pretty high priced. The fact that his aesthetic still seems so confused doesn't help me understand the appeal. That last red gown makes some of Zac Posen's or Marchesa's parade floats look positively demure by comparison.

I think there are some really nice peices here but he really needs to tone it WAY down on the ruffes, its worse than Valentino

Ruffles aside, there are some fabrics used in this collection that just aren't aesthetically pleasing, as Tim Gunn would say. I love Christian, and I want to love this collection, but I hate virtually every look in post #50 (except for the look before the ruffled dress, I think that dress is adorable).

i usually love christian's stuff but this was seriously atrocious! the shiny weird pebbly fabric? the weird proportions? the cheap prints? Everything was just a little off, I watched the live stream and was seriously so let down.

It's not ugly, it's just extremely contrived. He's trying too hard to be fancy. On top of that his last collection had more impressive designs.

Wow, someone's, what, second collection and people are already saying you're "repetitive" and "basic Siriano..." yeah, not good :( Some of the patterns are wonderful, a couple patterns are bad, and the ruffel dresses are good, but we've seen it before. If you MUST do ruffels, Christian, next season do them in a different way if possible.

I would like to cheer him on being that in the whole history of PR he is one of the few if only one who has moved and is now showing collections. Unfortunately this one was a bad one, there was no sophistication and I think he really shines when he is doing his evening gowns at least with the evening looks its glamorous but his other looks were just awful.

I think he's still trying to find his vision as a designer. The shoes are cool though.
