Comme des Garçons S/S 2018 Paris

Not sure what to think...I appreciate that the gaudiness is intentional and potential commentary on the current state of fashion but doesn't mean I have to like it...at least some of the silhouettes are somewhat more wearable than recently.

I’ll come back later but I freakin’ LOVE this.. put a smile on my face right away.

Sorry, but this season Ricks Owens won the battle of abstraction.

To quote Mel Ottenberg on instagram..."Rei snapped"

I LOVE IT. Like Mullet this definitely put a smile on my face. The outfits with the manga illustrations - so good!

Much more traditional and even classic than the last few Comme presentations. I like that.

There’s a serene, ceremonial mood to these silhouettes— that convey Comme’s past, that of “like the boys”, which I’m attracted to here. The kaleidoscopic swirl of colors and prints are spellbinding, and this tone of all the collage of chaos being contained in ceremonial forms that at once conjure feudal Jaan and Elizabethan era dressing so gorgeously.

Just wished there were more of the sly wiley-ness of the white boucle-esqu suiting that hints at classic tailoring— but with the demented perspective through a funhouse mirror. And if only these designs had accompanying pants for a more total suiting.

It’s thrilling and inspiring how a label that’s well over 40 years old with its original designer, can so effortlessly show out all the lessers half her age, like J.W. and Virgil— both coming off as so lazy and limited in their design skills and only fuelled by hype.

Rei reigns.

Rei and Comme has always been to conceptually challenging for me to process, always lost for words.

The dress with Giuseppe Arcimboldo painting of Vertumnus is phenomenal!

It really is her best in quite some time. What's so good about this is the sheer fun you can tell she had while making, the same fun they usually have on Homme Plus but rarely on the main line. It's pop, upbeat, kinda girly and pretty, but slightly macabre for good measure. Just magic.

Man, the Japanese gang is truly our saving grace these days.

Perfect!
Less abstract, less pretentious and much more fun!
Even if the shapes are less extreme and surprising than before, it still has that energy and craftmanship that we all love from CDG.

I like that there's this hint, this suggestion of wearability. It add another flair...
Not that i'm attached to wearability but for me fashion is relevant when it can impact people's lives so, i need to have at least a suggestion of wearability, even when the garnments are totally unpractical.

Fabulous prints!

Brilliant! Not only the constructions but i love how she put 70s shoujo manga character together with Guiseppe's Art. It's like the soft side of Rei besides the rough and dark in the previous collection.
