TWO FOR TOP?: Comme des Garçons' Rei Kawakubo may be the next player in the high-low shuffle. "[Kawakubo] contacted us to say how much she liked the Topshop Unique fall/winter collection that she'd seen online, and to say she may be interested in some sort of future collaboration — though nothing's fixed," a Topshop spokesman said on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Topshop already has fixed its next guest star: Celia Birtwell, the famed print designer and ex-wife of fashion legend Ossie Clark. The line, dubbed Celia Birtwell for Topshop, retailing from about $40 to $120, will be unveiled April 26 at its Oxford Circus store in London.

if she can start putting ads in magazines.. this wouldn't surprise me at all.. but it is just all too commercial.

OMG! Let this be true....I know die-hards will say Rei is 'selling out' but if it's anything like the capsule collections that Peter Jensen, Jens Laugesen did for Topshop, then I think it would be fantastic!

I think it be great! Rei seems to be very broad thinking and democratic, it would be very intresting to see what she would do for something more mass market. Hopefully it wouldn't be to commercial though.

Hum ... this seems like a trend ... design for all ... now even for the one who doesnt sheds 1000's in clothes can afford the high end stuff (well... not that high end ... I dont think it'll be the same quality)... man .. this sure sounds great ...

exactly Johnny, i remember the Unique pieces we saw at Colette, they were quite cool, really.
i remain questioning this kind of mix-marketing but by Comme one never knows.. lets wait and see
