I agree though, I imagine it being quite similar to the PLAY line (which is kind of unremarkable) or CDG Shirt at best.

edit, they do in fact have an equivalent for their topshop unique line. For men it's called "Topman Design"

TOPSHOP ...... whY ??

top shop has either paid CDG a fortune or an offer it cant refuse ....or CDG is desperately trying to gain attention ...or a wider market.......but can this balancing act really work....??

CDG 's appeal is its limited availibility and designs .....when its SO available ....then its apppeal is eroded.

i thought dover street market and its wares is alrredy "wide" enough aN appeal..but obviously not

with TOPSHOP CDG better do some amazing stuff and/but this can only mean it will be tougher for future CDG collections.......


IN ANY CASE ...WHERE IS THE PROOF THAT THIS TOPSHOP STINT WILL HAPPEN..??? !!!...........OR DID SOMEONE JUST PUT THIS HERE JUST TO TEST REACTION ???

guys, the deal is not yet on.. its just Rei who expressed the 'idea' of doing a line for TopShop, so nothing is sure yet
we just have to wait and see if this collaboration will actually go on

OMG! Let this be true....I know die-hards will say Rei is 'selling out' but if it's anything like the capsule collections that Peter Jensen, Jens Laugesen did for Topshop, then I think it would be fantastic!

Yea, I've actually even liked some of Peter Jensen's topshop designs better than his mainline.
This will be magic if it happens! I can understand the view of it being a conflict between different size markets etc... but actually, the unique collection and capsule collections are still relatively exclusive compared with the rest of the shop. It's not a common occurence to spot topshop unique on the streets, very unlike the way that you might see a popular topshop dress up to 4 or 5 times a day.
I also don't think by any means a rei/topshop collab would be worn by half as many people as any of the h&m ones.

Didn't Sophia Kokosalaki also design for TopShop? This is why I think this would be great. Obviously to have such talents,they must have enough integrity as a business to attract these lovely talents as we all know they're highly independent and integral themselves. So Rei being the forerunner of this for decades already,there must be something about TS to get her attention. And as Rei is notoriously anti-establishment and corporate,TS must be different game.

The thing that people should know about these designer collections for Topshop is that unlike Karl/Stella for H&M, the quality is infinitely better. As it is, Topshop's clothes are IMO made much better than an average H&M garment and some of the Karl for H&M stuff was especially poor. As AvenueMarceau has said, Topshop Unique, Boutique and all design collaborations are made in very small quanities in comparisom to Topshop's mainlines so they do have a whiff of exclusivity about them. I actually don't think there will be that same H&M hysteria if this collaboration does happen because Topshop don't really hype up any of their design partnerships..... they're just there and quietly so. I reckon it will be sold much like the Topshop t-shirts for Dover Street Market - in quiet cool way.
