It should NOT be compared ... totally different things.
Fun to watch, though .. I'm not very used to that type of humour (on TV at least).

I watched a few episodes and I liked it, it was fun

I think its a load of crap personally and deffinately not t o be compared with SATC of Friends, the actors are so ham and the jokes just ain't funny.
:yuk:

I haven't seen that around here... is it on in USA?

There was a different version - same name - on in the US, but it wasn't nearly as funny. It was taken off of the air.

Did anyone else see it? The US version? :yuk:

Here we have BBC Canada which also plays the British Couplings. So maybe you guys can maybe see the original version, I recommend that you see atleast one episode. I think its a good show and pretty funny.

Where did Jeff go?!??!!:cry::cry: He's the most hilarious. These quotes are quite funny, but not nearly as funny when you actually see him saying it.

The Wisdom of Jeff: "I'm not bad. I've never been bad... I'm fairly new to mild naughtiness."
The Wisdom of Jeff: "Sally could be a lesbian! ...It could happen! She could be having a shower maybe, and probably Jane would be there. And she might happen to say, 'Jane, could you help me soap my breasts?'. 'Your breasts, Sally?' 'Yes, Jane, it's those tricky undersides.' 'Oh, I know what you mean, Sally, breasts can be a real dirt-trap.'"
The Wisdom of Jeff: "Steve, it’s a bad idea to actually count women’s breasts. The whole bus stares at you."

I never thought I'd like this type of humour, but for a long time it was my fave show. Nobody here seemed to watch it, so I guess they quitted broadcasting as I haven't seen it in 2 yours maybe  I have the first season on DVD, but I think the second was funnier. Remember piling glasses? :innocent:

I  that show. They show it on PBS here in the US (sunday nights @11), and I have the 1st 4 seasons on DVD- I'm waiting for the 5th to come out. I also love Friends (that my other favorite show!) but the only real similarity I see is that it about a group of 6 friends (3 guys, 3 girls) living in a major city. They both have different tones and different merits.

I don't like SATC, but the both have that quality where they talk openly and humorously about sex. I think the reason that the American version failed was that they couldn't get away with much of the sexual humor on network TV here, so they tried to substitute it w/ other (bad) jokes. It might have done better if they put it on cable, like SATC. Adn if they'd hired better writers and actors:innocent:
I read that Richard Coyle (Jeff) left the show b/c he wanted to do other things and he didn't want to be typecast. Last I heard, he was doing some theater. The new guy Oliver seems ok, but he's not as funny as Jeff. But I was surprised and impressed that they managed to keep up the dynamic, tone, and humor, after they'd lost a cast member- often that throws a show (especially a sitcom) totally off balance.

I have BBC, i should check it out

I agree with what you said. I totally forgot to reply to the original purpose of this thread because I got carried away by the scenes that popped up in my head :innocent:

I remember seeing "Jeff" in the tv version of Othello, it was kinda weird to see him in such a completely different role. But that was only the first few secs, after that it didn't even come to mind anymore which means he's a brilliant actor B)
