Cashmere Mafia

I am still not sold on this show. I love Frances OConnors character.

I HATE how they dress Lucy Liu. What was that gold jacket thing, looked like it was made from my grandmothers cutrains. And it didnt match the skirt, and the earrings were distracting me from what she was saying.

Awful.

I could have written this post, I love Frances O'Connor and hate, hate Lucy Liu's character. Lucy Liu can barely walk in the shoes they put her in and it drives me crazy  And some of her hairdos are appropriate for someone twice her age going to a ball, it's like they're trying to make her funky with her crazy outfits but instead of being fresh she's looking matronly and ridiculous.

Makes me wonder if the costume team know how to dress women who are suppose to be in their 40s...

really? I love the show and the characters. Honestly it grows on me each week. I love that the characters friendships don't all centre around Lucy Liu, they show successful women and also deal with the problems they face with business.

I watched this for the first time last night. It was okay. I don't know if the fact that I missed several episodes made a difference.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't know many woman who wear major updo's to go to work.

I totally loved episode 5.Watching Lipstick Jungle horrible mess make me appreciate Cashmere even more.I'm so addicted,I'm almost sad to know that there's only two episodes left

I just saw Lipstick Jungle and I felt it was painfully similar to this show. Do we really need two shows like this? I'm beginning to think these shows are like the TV equivalent of the worst type of Bridget Jones-style chick lit. Are these the types of TV shows people think women want to watch? Don't you think these shows are talking down to the female audience maybe just a little bit?
I'm not sure how I feel about it, personally. I will probably continue watching even though I still haven't made up my mind about these shows.

i wont even bother watching the pilot of lipstick jungle. i guess i'll stick with the cashmere mafia... first: do we really need all these similiar shows? second: cast is mostly what may make the difference for me and i mean brooke shields and kim raver? no thanks.
ill stick with lucy  frances and bonnie (miranda otto somehow annoys me)
i like this show. wasn't excited about it, but i gave it a chance, and it went fine
i like the fact that they're more focused on their work (wich you kinda rarely saw in satc) and the issues related to that. my fav characters so far ar zoe and caitiln. and well, im in love with davis. he might be the worst husband ever but that man is so hot.

I loved SATC, but I find I prefer Cashmere Mafia to SATC. Cashmere Mafia is predicated on a quartet of strong women, and it focuses much more on their work-life balance/problems, and less on sex and men. I think on the surface, Lipstick Jungle and Cashmere Mafia seem similar, but the women on LJ are more of a continuation of the SATC characters (sex/relationships/emotional).

I definitely prefer Cashmere to Lipstick, mostly because there was WAY too much crying on the LJ pilot, and because out of the three characters on LJ, Kim Raver was the only convincing actress.

Plus the men on Cashmere Mafia are way hotter than the men on LJ... Davis is hot, but personally, I LOVE Eric.

They all look amazing :woot:
Thank You so much Erin ...Karma :flower:

Yeah, I never thought I would say this, but I think Cashmere mafia is better than SATC.! It gets better and better! And I love Davis too:heart: They should change Mia's hairstyle though. She looks like a ram most of the time...

I completely agree. I love how CM has strong, independent women who despite all their dilemmas in their lives can still remain such good friends.

I hate all the SATC comparisons we've been reading though; the show runners should stop selling CM as the next SATC and let the show grow on its own.

^ Agreed, they all look fabulous. Although they are all fabulous looking women even not in print! This show is really growing on me... don't love it yet, but I think I might awfully soon! I really like Frances O'Connor and Miranda Otto's characters and story lines.. I think they are definitely the most interesting.

I agree. I think the Lipstick Jungle/CM mafia thing is similar to 30 Rock/Studio 60 thing that happened last year. Both shows got picked up and only one will make it out and I'm hoping hoping that it is CM. I never liked the look of lipstick and i watched the pilot to give it a fair chance against CM (and because nothing else was on) and I agree, except for Kim Raver, the show was a disaster. First of all, what kind of big film studio has it's head in NYC and not in LA? Second of all, at least CM gives you FASHION even if you think it's OTT. Victory's fashion show was a joke and I couldn't take it seriously when Brooke Shields and Kim Raver were pointing at what were essentially trash bags saying 'ooh i like that and that'

Anyway, I agree that, CM is nothing like SATC except for the fact that there are women and fashion involved. I feel that CM got off to a rough start since the pilot was less than stellar but each week the show has strengthened and I hope audiences see that. Plus the women and men in CM are ten times hotter so even if the plot sucks you've still got way better eye candy than lipstick jungle

eta: haha sorry this is so long! Clearly I'm passionate about this show

^ I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one.Gotta love Cashmere Mafia ^_^

^ Oh I feel the same way. I was really disappointed with Lipstick Jungle but Cashmere Mafia just gets better and better every week!!!

Well said Meg! :magic:

I never thought about the fact that the movie company should have been in LA vs. NYC...they were so dramatic about getting Leo DeCaprio too

The guys on CM are a definately nice to look at...especially the manny :brows:
