^Rumor was it was Hillary Swank originally slated for the cover (she is instead only inside that issue by McDean)
Laura Bush had a cover but she was an intelligent woman and no trophy wife. While Trump is petty enough to tell Vogue they won't have access, he is a notorious star-effer and Vogue represents everything perfect to him.

Wow, they cancelled two-time Oscar winner Hillary Swank to put "Donald Trump's newest bride" (that was literally the tagline) on the cover? That aside the cover was absolutely hideous.
Sad that Hillary never got her's after this.

I'm no fan of Melania or Trump but Vogue does have a very long tradition of featuring the incoming First Lady this goes back a lot further than Anna Wintour and has always been non partisan. I see no reason why it shouldn't continue and I don't see it as being an endorsement. Melania's cover from 2005 is still inexcusable though and I doubt she'll get a cover this time. Anna is just upholding a tradition.

Anyway, Melania could be a cover girl for a June or July issue. It's a little bit too soon for a cover right now.
And unlike Miss Dalloway, i think that the Trumps needs Vogue more than the magazine need them. It's not like Vogue is a political magazine. It represent a certain vision of America and it's the biggest advocate for one of the most powerful industry in the world.
We know how influencial Anna is so she could be instrumental to warm-up the relationship with the fashion community and the Trumps. Plus, we saw how being a fashion icon benefited Michelle Obama.

How are they going to give Melania's a cover if the Vogue website still makes article on how horrible Trump is? I check their app daily and they're still very much pro Hillary. I saw an article against Trump on the website just a few days ago I swear.
