Cover Rumor Thread

^Yeah! Kate Moss, Edie Campbell, Nora Attal, Stella Tennant & Jean Campbell.

So even for her last issue she is bringing the yawns!!!B&W multi model ed? No! Bring on the Oct issue, and Edward, although not expecting much either!

Good God, I can't wait for this woman to go! Most likely Kate will get one of the few multi-covers?

Who are the people posting on her IG?

I can't believe how boring her last issue looks like... I almost think she kind of hated her job... no inspiration...zero excitement...

I know we recently had the centenary issue, but I'd be happy if September is another 'greatest hits' of everything over the past years - there WAS a time when British Vogue was good.

Maybe the walk down memory lane could be done from different angles than seen in the 100th anniversary issue. And I wouldn't complain if Kate Moss were on the cover, because I could understand it, in that context.

If ever it made sense to have Moss on the cover it is now... All the support that Alex has given her... I am sure she will be... they love her there however tired the Moss brand is now... and I guess with the new editor not much will change...

I would argue that during 1988, 89, 90, 91, 92 it was actually one of the best, if not the best...

I think Alex is and has been great.
I actually think Edward is going to ruin Vogue.
At the end of the day it is a mainstream British fashion magazine.
It isnt i-d or W.
From reading her book and profiles and interviews with AS she has clearly made Vogue into a huge profitable brand and thats from balancing and juggling the huge fashion world from High Street to high end.
Is EW really going to be schmoozing with M&S and Next which I bet bring in more money than the niche brands you see in W and Dazed.
And yes he will champion new younger cooler models, but magazines are a business and they have to sell..which is why Alex putting Kate Moss and Alexa on the cover works.

My prediction is he will do a big redesign. It will not be a success. It will slowly get diluted by 'above' and Edward will leave.

I really hope I am wrong though.

Editing Vogue is a massive full time job and he will just not have time to style shoots and campaigns. It just isnt possible.

I just can't agree that Alex is great. Vogue was most certainly a better magazine in the 2000's, but this wasn't just down to Alex, it was the team. For the past decade, if not more, the magazine has been drained of every last inch of fashion content and context to become some weird diluted beacon to dullness. It has no opinion, it has no vision, it doesn't even have a style that's is its own? Aside from us all knowing a UK Vogue cover when we see one because of it's boring, predictable nature.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of Edward but I at least believe he's going to give us covers that have some kind of idea behind them, a concept and a reason for their execution. That being said, I'm sure we're still going to get Kate on covers with him but hopefully they won't simply be her sitting in a studio, shot by a champagne sozzled Testino.

I'm assuming all the consulting will be left behind, surely? It's in such poor taste to consult for brands while you're the EIC. Like I said in another thread, Carine did that and look how it all panned out.........

You need a certain persuasive personality to secure deals for the magazine. Carine somehow got Falke, the most random yet profitable advertiser on board during her VP days. That showed skill imo. I'm sure he'll be fine in that department, having worked with many brands. That's why he shouldn't (or wouldn't) get rid of Kate Phelan. If he's savvy enough he'll bear in mind that she's the link between the magazine and Topshop. Only, the Guardian recently posted a less than flattering article on how Topshop is slowly going down.

I just hope he'll get a tremendously strong features director! There's actually more to British Vogue than just styling and photography, there's the features. Deciding what to be published when, the quality of the writing, keeping the magazine concise with both fashion and written content etc etc. He doesn't, I think, have any experience with this at all.....

Unpopular opinion: I think UK Vogue's content is very nice, better than most Vogue's at least.

What UK Vogue has going for it, is that it still tries to speak to WOMEN, rather than chasing the teenage market.

But in common with the current incarnation of UK Bazaar, it manages to make life as an adult woman seem very dull and almost devoid of sex. Like the excitement has gone out of life, to be replaced by country gardens and getting the right person to do your creamy blonde highlights.

In terms of features, I agree

Editorial content, VP and VI are still on top despite the changes

Is VI July going to be by Meisel?

I would be opposed to Steven Meisel shooting Vogue Italia's July cover story. Can't believe it has been a year since that flawless Vittoria Ceretti cover!

Lest we forget Enninful's connection with Gap and the presumed profitability for the magazine there...

GAP is deader than a Dodo in the UK. It's been struggling for absolutely years, they've shut all but a handful of stores and I struggle to see how they even manage to keep those ones open to be honest. GAP never really found a home here in the UK at all, they expanded too quick and then swiftly nose dived. They barely even advertise over here, so I wouldn't bank on it bringing in any money to the magazine at all.

AUGUST 2017 UK
Red - Millie Mackintosh !!!!!!
Esquire - Pogba
Marie Claire - Sophie Turner
