Cover Rumor Thread

Does winning the Vogue Open Casting contest warrant a September/October cover for the chosen models or are they just going to appear in a shared editorial worldwide? I'm just curious because Fan Jinghan, the first winner of Vogue Open Casting China, had her first Vogue cover in September 2021.

I wondered why the cover looked so amateur.... then I saw it was shot by the Morelli brothers. Stands to reason I suppose.

So Disney had no money left to buy decent covers for Halle? All these digital covers are not a good look. On the upside, if they only commissioned an editorial that is now turned into a digital cover, that's somewhat of a win, right?

Any clue about British Vogue? I'm lost if I see their next issue be like "easy, breezy, beautiful, derelicte!".

Can't be. Simone Ashley scored Vogue and ELLE last year and must be crazy if Netflix has more money than Disney to buy covers. Anyway, I like her more in fashion magazines because she appeals adult readers. Halle is very Teen Vogue to me.

^seems like, but I see more that from the music industry. I see more singers than actors scoring covers now. Companies are behind of that. I mean, business. Anyway, I had my doubts of Disney stars getting Vogue covers. I still find Vogue a publication for young/adult women. Disney target are kids. Looks out of place from Disney pushing kids buying a magazine like Vogue (also the Demna scandal mixing children with his vision of fashion still fresh in memory and makes some noise about that combo). An adult magazine like Vogue gives the space to serious topics, like abortion, drugs, abuse, war, etc. If Teen Vogue still a thing I would say that's the right place. I can't think a Little Mermaid cover and next inside there's an extensive article about rehab.

I’d say Disney is trying to get a large audience for most of their products. They’re for children, but also for their parents. Who knows, a mom might buy an issue and see a feature about an actress in a movie and take her kids to see it. Of course they’re trying to get young people to buy the magazine when they put stars that resonate with them on the cover. Sure, Vogue has articles about serious topics sometimes… but there’s no way a kid/teen is reading (m)any of the articles in Vogue. Teen magazines are dead anyway, but teens have a lot of money to waste! Besides, young people live in the real world, too. I can guarantee you that they’re not oblivious to issues. Besides, It’s Vogue, not Penthouse.

Yeah! Ha. Still, remember the days of the topless photos of Shalom by Penn. Those were the times. Always loved a good nude portrait in Vogue. Frech and Italian Vogue were full of them back in the day.

The cover stories from the 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue are up on their website, with Kim Petras, Megan Fox, Brooks Nader and Martha Stewart. Yes, THE Martha Stewart.

The July 23 cover of UK Tatler is a painting of King Charles by Trinidadian artist Sarah Knights, it can be seen on Mail Online.

Surprised that US Vogue still hasn't release the cover for their Jun/Jul issue since the issue will come out next week (and subscribers might probably get it by the end of this week?). Usually they release the cover story 2 weeks before the release date. But tbh I like this approach better, releasing the cover story too early makes reading the print product less exciting.

for sure it will be Margot Robbie on the cover of US Vogue and right?

I wonder if it’s coming a bit later because it’s Margot on both the US and UK edition? Similar to the Adele situation; same star, different shoots, with US Vogue revealing their cover a little later than normal and UK Vogue potentially revealing their’s a bit earlier so that they’re online around the same time? I don’t know… just speculating. I can see both of them vying to have the Barbie cover and this way they both “win”. Having said that, the movie isn’t due til late July so it’s probably still a bit too early for a Margot magazine cover.

American Vogue started combining June and July - will probably just call it the Summer Issue. I imagine it will be released last week of May or first week of June.

According to the media kit the summer issue will be released on May 23rd. Maybe they pushed the release date?
