Cover Rumor Thread

I'd love that! Vogue UK does amazing group covers, or at least used to. Although I can imagine that the 'iconic' faces they would choose would include some dubious selections... Daisy Lowe or Alice Dellal anyone?:innocent:

That would be so wonderful - Lara, Georgia, Lily, Sasha, Natalia, Daria....hard to imagine Lily Cole in that mix, she stands out so much. Also hard to imagine Kate Moss would settle for being with other models on a cover. Though that would be refreshing.

Maybe Jourdan (yeah pregnant, I know) instead of Georgia and I'd be running to stores...

Although given fashion's enduring love for the supermodels, we might be as likely to see the original girls gathered together again, twenty years on.

Even if we're bored of certain names - or the supermodel phenomenon in general - it can't be denied that there was something special about them for their appeal to still last this long - and that all of them would still give good cover today.

^Which is a great thing as long as the ones who age well are used (ie not Elle or Cindy). However, it would be nice if the new models were also allowed to grow into their roles as near perfect but fully grown women, rather than just be disposed of as soon as their hips have matured. In other words, it would be terrible if we just have a oldie supermodel revival and no new models who stick around. It's time for one of those new model covers for British Vogue...

Vogue UK already did an attempt at a cover with the new British model talent last year with Jourdan, Eden and Rosie, but failed, thanks to a horrible red banner.

Yes, that whole cover was a wee bit of a shambles - and only three girls? We need more than that!

I dont think UK Vogue does group shots well at all (they hit the jackpot with the 1990 one, because it was the right time, and the perfect photographer who captured it, but failed every since, imho), simply hated the last few. That one from 2007 was terrible as well!

Rosie on the cover....uhm. I don't want to be rude, but that's bad judgement.

^I know what you mean, but in all fairness to Rosie, the concept of the cover was to show 3 different kind of beauties for the 'British Beauties Now' feature of that issue. But still not the best choice. I suspect it was only because she was the face of Burberry that season.

Oh. I was sort of not with it that season, what was the idea behind the cover?

KINGofVERSAILLES, maybe you should do a bit of a research before saying something like that. There have been quite a bit of extremely positive reaction to Sandra's performance. Most notably HR's and Variety's reviews which basically said that she'll be a force to be reckoned with this award season.

"Bullock is thoroughly convincing in the role -- right down to her credible accent and the blonding of her normally brown tresses -- and she's not afraid to occasionally keep auds guessing as to whether Leigh Ann's actions are driven by a heart of gold or a whim of iron." That's basically all Variety had to say about her. HR praises her performance as Feisty and entertaining, but doesn't say anything about Awards.

I'm not saying I don't like Sandra or that she isn't good in the film. I just think the whole "Sandra Bullock is already getting Oscar Buzz!" tv-spots are attempts to get female auds to see the movie. Oscar Buzz websites such as InContention don't even mention her.

^I just checked InContention because I always love reading Oscar buzz websites and was not aware of that one (thanks for guiding me ^_^), and under the section "The Contenders," Sandra Bullock is listed as a possible contender for Best Actress for The Blind Side. They don't say she is a frontrunner, but she is a contender. I have not seen the film, so I have no idea how good her performance is. Still, she has been EVERYWHERE this year, and we all know how the Academy loves to recognize box office draw. I highly doubt she will win though. There is just too much tought competition. Personally, I would love for Gabourey Sidibe to win. I cried just watching the preview for Precious, and I can only imagine that I will be even more moved by the film itself! It looks so powerful!

haha...yeah, I'm obsessed with the Oscars and am a regular on IMDb Oscar Buzz boards. They must have just added her recently, either that or I should get my eyes checked. :(

And oh yeah, I totally agree about Precious looking heartbreaking. Just reading the synopsis made me sad and, like you, I cried during the preview.

Speaking of which, I have a feeling Gabourey Sidibe will be one of the ladies featured on the Annual Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue (I think that's what it's called).

Way to make our movie-loving relevant to this particular forum ! I certainly hope Gabourey Sidibe makes the annual Vanity Fair Hollywood issue. She has been getting A LOT of good hype surrounding the film, so she certainly should at least be featured in the issue. Also, I am sure Carey Mulligan will be featured as well. She is touted to be the next big thing. Everyone keeps praising her performance in An Education.

Speaking about upcoming actresses, I'm surprised that Margareth Made isn't more of a feature in magazines, because she's got the body for fashion, with a face that has the rich features of a classic Italian actress - looking a bit demented here, but you can see the dramatic potential in this sort of beauty (images.smh.com.au):

I wondered if we'd get another choice of covers with the new i-D. And that must be the Lara/Jamie editorial that was mentioned in the UK Vogue interview.

Margareth is so beautiful  and she got the body for fashion because she was a model tigerrouge :flower:
