Cover Rumor Thread

Who says that the July issue will be the only cover of the year where a black model is going to be featured? I don't think this is going to be a one time thing, or at least I hope it doesn't become a one time thing.

The deep-seated racism in the fashion industry that won't be eradicated with one all-black Vogue Italia says so. I think one of the reasons why discussion over which black model should be on the VI cover gets heated is because it is such a rare occurrence that we all want our favourites to be on it and our not-so-favourites to stay off it. Like you I hope this isn't a one time thing and that the action of VI will induce other magazines to follow suit. But I think we are far from the day when putting a non-white model on the cover isn't an act of activism, and is the norm rather than the exception.

Oh! I hope the Times got their facts right, but it's the Times so it should be weird if they didn't. However I am really afraid that they got the bit about US Vogue from here where the rumour first started and turned out to be wrong. Perhaps it wasn't wrong after all? Boy, I can't wait for July....although I have to admit that all these question marks are a lot of fun to ponder about :p

I don't the get the "all black issue" of Vogue Italia at all. If Meisel and the editor felt so strongly about diversity then why not start by using 1 black model per month, which would be a huge difference from todays 0, instead of 30 in one month and then 0 again. I feel it's relatively hypocritical.

I totally agree with u ... I don't get it either.

^^I third that, but i guess they want as much publicity and hoopla about the issue as possible.....

I feel that the issue is good if viewed as a "making up for lost ground" type of strategy...hopefully it will at least kick off more consistent appearances by ethnic models within future issues -- that would be a true representation of change :)

^Agreed....and when it turns that did not happen a few months after the issue has come out (I wanna say the S/S 09 season) THEN we could say that Omnis and co are right.

old, and probably a repost, but

"A couple of weeks ago, the upcoming June/July 2008 issue of Vogue Paris was rumored to be "a Gallic extravaganza complete with 'Made In France' beauties placed front and center." Now, it's said that two "very French" models were booked, one who "for years was an iconic face for a venerable designer," and the other a girl "who rose to a more mass market kind of stardom."
Audrey Marnay? Laetitia Casta? Morgane Dubled? Buehler? I'm thinking the first could be Ines de la Fressange (Chanel), and for the second maybe Neomie Lenoir?"

Sessilee Lopez...dont call it a COME BACK

It’s been a long time,
I shouldn’t have left you
Without a strong rhyme to step to" - Rakim

Major Models Sessilee Lopez "Don't Call her a Comeback, she's been here for years" and with that said shes working hardder than ever and is about to get much and more notice coming this summer with Vogue Italia all black models issue shot by Steven Meisel. We've all heard the rumors that British model Jourdan Dunn will be the cover model well according to my great sources whose both working on that project jourdan as beautiful as she is wont be the model on the cover but Sessilee Lopez will be the cover model, Not only is she going to be on the cover but she also has a 16 page story with in the same issue shot by Steven Miesel. Im also informed that along with this 16 page story Sessilee Lopez is bring the heat and FYI DONT EXPECT TO SEE ANY GRACE JONE THEMES HERE.

So while the fashion world go gaga over young black models Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn, Sessilee Lopez the once under dog is proving you cant keep her down to long! Look foward for this june/july issue.

you know u luv her

We've heard so many rumours about who will be on the cover of this issue of VI so I'm not going to believe anything until I actually see the cover. First Jourdun, Chanel, Iman, and now Sessilee. I'm not saying that Sessilee does not deserve it, but I will have to wait to really believe anything.

gotta see it 2 believe it
