! But she makes even less sense than Laetitia does for an anniversary issue. If one really thinks about it, Laetitia is a French icon considering that she is the current Marianne, so I guess it is not too strange if she ends up being the person who was chosen. One would think that for an anniversary issue, the magazine would focus on its history, and therefore the history of France. And, in a way, Laetitia is the current face of the country.Still, Laetitia is a French icon and is the current Marianne

Daria W. shot an editorial in Morocco for VP with I&V. Maybe a cover for 2009?

I remember reading somewhere that Natasha also had a shoot in Moroco. Could be for the same ed.Daria W. shot an editorial in Morocco for VP with I&V. Maybe a cover for 2009?
^^Taben (and any other french tFSers anyway), what do you think about vavavinny's statement? Do you consider her as an icon? I personally don't, and I think it's pretty safe to say that people don't care that much about her here, non?
It's hard to consider anyone an icon these days... But she's certainly as iconic some of the other guest editors, and probably more relevent to most French people, who actually know her... and she's a MODEL for God's sake

Well to be honest I don't think "people" care more about Sofia Coppola or John GallianoIt's hard to consider anyone an icon these days... I've already said it but I'll say it again: she was YSL's muse, the most successful and recognisable French model in years, chosen as the face of the Republic, very successful inspite of unusual proportions (for a model) and know to the public worldwide thanks to her work for Victoria's Secret and, more recently, L'Oréal... She's already been on the cover of Vogue Paris twice and is one of the few successful models-turned-actresses... She's starring in Serge Gainsbourg's biopic as Brigitte Bardot, which is creating a lot of buzz here...
She wouldn't be my first choice but I don't see why so many people have a problem with her....

Probably not of interest to most people but Laetitia was replaced as the face of Marianne in 2003![]()
! I read somewhere that she was replaced, but I also read that she got the honor for a decade, so I was confused
!
. I am not French and have no idea what the French think of Laetitia, so I am not really the best person to make comments
! I just assumed that since she was chosen to be the Marianne, the same honor shared by Brigitte Bardot and Catherne Deneuve, that she has to be somewhat of a modern day French icon.
Not to kill the whole "Marianne" thing but a tv host (remember Evelyne Thomas guys?
) was once choosen as the face of Marianne so I'm not sure it requires so much prestige
^Aww, that's fine. I'm sure many here thought the same thingNot to kill the whole "Marianne" thing but a tv host (remember Evelyne Thomas guys?

Perhaps we feel a bit mystified by her being the guest editor because we don't really have a great awareness of her as a creative individual in her own right. We know what products she has promoted, what parts she has played, what concepts she has symbolised, but we don't really know who she is. We don't know what she's really about, at heart - and we're getting an issue that's coming from her viewpoint? I feel it's no surprise we can't get a handle on the idea.

! Very good point. Who is chosen is probably just based on whom a board of old men find attractive on a particular day
