“These Australian models are from such diverse and inspiring backgrounds and truly represent the face of modern Australia.”
In response to comments today regarding the lack of diversity in the fashion industry, we are taking the unprecedented step of revealing that this behind-the-scenes image is from an exciting upcoming cover of Vogue Australia which will feature some of the diverse and beautiful faces of Australian modelling together: Charlee Fraser, Fernanda Ly, Akiima and Andreja Pejic.
Vogue Australia editor-in-chief Edwina McCann said today: “These Australian models are from such diverse and inspiring backgrounds and truly represent the face of modern Australia. Together they present a powerful picture of where we are as a country today not only in fashion, but in society in general.
“The shoot, styled by our fashion director Christine Centenera, was photographed in New York last year where these women are working at the very top of their game. Getting them together was no small feat, however I feel it is such an important statement for Vogue Australia and well worth the mammoth efforts of our production team over many months.”
Surprised at the relative lack of covers for Saoirse Ronan. She has an amazing face that photographs well, dresses in an interesting, sometimes quirky way, and is now a three-time Oscar nominee at only 23. I'd put her on the cover of my imaginary magazine in a heartbeat!
What about Brooklyn? Brooklyn was good and it looks like they shot it in Ireland and America.
I wonder who photographed Naomi Campbell for the March cover of British Vogue? Do you think another Steven Meisel cover story is possible after December? Edward might've went with Mert & Marcus or someone else to ensure a safe budget for the issue. I'm keen to see Naomi back on British Vogue, nevertheless.
It had to have been M&M. Some weeks back someone posted a pic from M&M wrapping up a shoot in the early hours of the morning. I think it was tagged March, or something.
When you think about it it makes sense to shoot Naomi that time of the morning. To excuse for her to be late....
