Cover Rumor Thread

^ Nope, she was never planned for the cover. Hadid sisters booked for it from the start.

I thought so too because why would Meisel just shoot an edit for UK Vogue? Granted he did do it every now and then for W (I think less than 5 times since Tonchi took over), but for most part he always got the cover.

Who else is ready to see who’s on the August issue of British Vogue?!?

Because, I’m sick of looking at the Ariana Grande washed out cover.

Any leads on who will get the cover? We should be getting the cover in a few days.

I thought it was going to be Victoria and David Beckham.

He still got the cover with the Hadids though.

And if the ban was already in place, wouldn't they just scratch the Kaia edit or pass it on to some other Vogue edition?

So I don't see any backlash if they will put Kaia on the cover. I mean, her LOVE cover didn't receive any complaints from the general public, no?

Firstly, the Hadids are not underaged. I'm guessing by the time Anna released the statement below, UK Vogue's March issue was already laid to bed, so was Kaia's VP cover. Logistically, it wouldn't make any sense to scrap such an important shoot.

Just my theory, but I think Edward came up with the Hadids to keep the peace with Meisel. Do you think he'd be happy to have his cover scrapped and only get the edit? Yet Edward also couldn't run a Kaia cover which would be comical amidst Anna's statement. So we got Bella and Gigi. The issue of underaged models is not something to be scoffed at in the UK. We have an advertising body which keeps a close eye on such things. And a magazine such as British Vogue would be under more scrutiny than an indie-type Love magazine.

Sixtdaily was actually correct when she said that the reason Kaia's VI cover won't receive backlash is because she's being shown as a celebrity. Name in caps and all that. VP did the same.....

Anna Wintour Responds to Mario Testino and Bruce Weber Sexual Misconduct Allegations

JANUARY 13, 2018 8:35 PM

Today, the New York Times reported allegations of sexual misconduct against photographers Mario Testino and Bruce Weber, which they have challenged or denied. Both have been contributors to Vogue and Condé Nast for many years. Below is a personal response from Vogue’s Editor in Chief and Condé Nast Artistic Director Anna Wintour.

The past several months have been an extraordinary time of reckoning and change, and I, like so many others, have been astonished by the courage of those who have come forward to tell stories of sexual misconduct. Abuse of power has gone on for too long in so many places—including in Washington, in Hollywood, in broadcasting, journalism, Silicon Valley, and last but not least, in fashion, where many young women and men have spoken up about manipulation and coercion on go-sees, on shoots, and in other working environments. I’m proud to say that Condé Nast is responding, here and internationally, with a new Code of Conduct, a set of guidelines for outside contributors which has emerged after bracingly honest discussions—with model advocates and agents, stylists, photographers, hair and makeup artists, set designers, and many of our own editors. The goal of these conversations has been to understand how we can create safe and positive environments for everyone we work with.

These are some of the decisions we have made:

*All models appearing in fashion shoots commissioned by Condé Nast must be 18 years of age or older. The only exceptions will be those appearing as themselves as part of a profile, news story, or similar content, and they will be required to have a chaperone on set at all times.

*Alcohol will no longer be allowed on Condé Nast sets. Recreational drugs are not permitted.

*Photographers will no longer be permitted to use a Condé Nast set for any work that is not commissioned or approved by the company.

*Any shoot involving nudity, sheer clothing, lingerie, swimwear, simulated drug or alcohol use, or sexually suggestive poses must be approved in advance by the subject.

Even as we stand with victims of abuse and misconduct, we must also hold a mirror up to ourselves—and ask if we are doing our utmost to protect those we work with so that unacceptable conduct never happens on our watch. Sometimes that means addressing the fact that such behavior can occur close to home. Today, allegations have been made against Bruce Weber and Mario Testino, stories that have been hard to hear and heartbreaking to confront. Both are personal friends of mine who have made extraordinary contributions to Vogue and many other titles at Condé Nast over the years, and both have issued objections or denials to what has emerged. I believe strongly in the value of remorse and forgiveness, but I take the allegations very seriously, and we at Condé Nast have decided to put our working relationship with both photographers on hold for the foreseeable future.

I just got one of those email surveys from UK Vogue, asking about different wording of coverlines, and they were a variation on "an exclusive with the Beckhams", which seems to confirm what we know from earlier in this thread...

Sigh! The entire Beckham family on Vogue. September is shaping up to be uneventful all round.

I wonder whether Meisel shot them.....

^ Me too, heard that I&V shot her. Sounds like Sept.

I assure you, you will NOT see the entire family on the cover. It just not gonna happen, an inside family portrait maybe, but not the actual cover. If that happens its just gonna be her, most likely like honeycombchild said; October cover to go with her brand Anniversary celebration. Which quite frankly, makes sense.

But in general Sept has not been exciting for years now, no? Last year was god-awful! And now there is no Interview for a good bunch of eds at least, I hope Porter maybe brings it.

I'd be surprised to see the whole Beckham family on the cover. A lot of people can't abide them, but maybe Edward's oblivious so who knows

Vanessa Kirby is Marie Claire UK (seen at IG: @feathercreative).

Lady Gaga by I&V... im down with that.

Hope its not a studio cover

But surely going by that logic, Kaia could appear on the cover of British Vogue and Edward will get away with it as long as he puts emphasis on her celebrity status? It's a cheap tactic but I wouldn't be surprised.

British Vogue is as much a women's magazine as much as it is a fashion title. Readers invest in the magazine for written content as well. It's not primarily image driven like the French and Italian editions.

So yes, he could try giving her a cover, but I'm prepared to bet that it won't wash well with a lot of readers. Generally speaking, I'd like to know what value a 16yo will offer to a reader base of 60% millenials (18-34), and the remainder much more mature (34+) That is, beyond fashion editorials.

Some rumours I heard, take these as pure gossip:

Celeb on the August cover of VP, something about last minute cover change mess.
An actual MODEL on Sept cover of UK Vogue. (hope this one is true, but wtf happened to Rihanna?!)
Major drama over getting Beyonce for future cover by Edward, she might end up on December for his Anniversary.

Even Fashion magazine gossip is boring these days. Sigh :ninja:

Love how a celeb is the last resort at VP and not the model! If it's a last minute change, then Alt must've caught up with someone who booked another Vogue cover. It can't be Oprah, at least! Gisele? Didnt someone mention that Gisele is on an upcoming VP cover?

Wonder which model will book September British Vogue! Not an Instagirl, please. But I'm glad he's passing on Rihanna.

The drama over Beyonce is probably between the US and UK editions, meaning who will get her first.

None of these people appeal to me, but thanks for the news! :pink:

Thanks for “gossip” Miss Dalloway. Interesting about Rihanna, she must have been pushed back to October.

I hope September is actually a MODEL and not an insta girl. It would be nice if it were either Naomi or Alek Wek.

So US Vogue September is still a toss up, but we’re leaning more towards GaGa by IV, right?
