Cover Rumor Thread

I saw on Instagram people buying print magazines around Europe, so I'm sure the next VI will be out soon.

Well, by now, they would probably post a statement that new issues are being postponed or suspended, so I guess they are simply being late as usual. Along goes the fact that a new issue of a fashion magazine might not be a priority in today's Republic of Italy.

I’ve thought Vogue Italia seemed late, and shuddered at the thought of Farneti scrambling together some mess about to pandemic to cash in on a the matter.

While I applaud any professional working hard to combat Covid-19, all I’m after from the fashion titles right now is some escapism and glamour. Nothing more, nothing less.

Farneti overplayed his hand! The all-illustrated or all-CGI edits would have been a saving grace for the pandemic months because it didn't involve location shooting. What will he try to spin now?

True! He wasted two ideas (the painting issue and the CGI) that could have been very useful right now, in the most contrived way just to show how woke and innovative his work is. I must say that I'm for once curious to see what he will come up with, given the current situation..

If I were Anna, the moment I run out of content, I’d publish retrospective issues, where the cover would be a shot from an unpublished editorial depicting the times highlighted.

Vogue May 2020: The 1800s
Vogue June 2020: The early 1900s
Vogue July 2020: The 60s

... and so on

until the end of this pandemic. The first issue after the return to normalcy focuses on comebacks (with a star making her Vogue comeback) Aniston?

In this way, they have content in the form of selling parts of their Vogue Archive for a cheaper amount.

So we are basically expecting a model-free April cover?

I'm actually keen to see the concept. Will the clothes hang off a tree or post? LOL.
Don't recall seeing Patti's work in VI for some time and I actually miss her work for the magazine. Many on here don't care for her edits with Klein though, lol.

Oh god, more horses. The only thing missing from the line-up of Klein clichés will be Madonna because she'll still be singing to herself in the bath.

Who's he gonna shoot? His dogs and a bunch of horses?! Meh. I'd rather get another retrospective issue like the July 2013 anniversary. At least those HQ reprints were useful...

Love how the horses and dogs are the first people think about, lol. Someone else also said horses and I completely forgot he's mad about them, but if that's the case...well, can't even imagine what it would look like! How do you shoot a horse in fashion? And please, don't shoot a farm horse from the back. Will just be too comically literal for words. Like the time Lui advertised their Malgosia Bela cover on the back end of a bus.

That place is his property, isn't it? That fits nicely with the idea of self-isolation, but shooting in a place where you've surrounded yourself with your own vision... I can't see how it's going to be anything other than a cliché.

Elle Germany May is Alicia Burke - a black, Jamaican model (reprint from Elle Italia). I'm just emphasizing her ethnicity due to the last year's scandal with the Black Issue, so I'd say this cover is more of a statement, and less than a random reprint.
I do buy German Elle often for some time now and non-white models seem to be regularly featured lately.

What if Steven Klein himself is the cover star.

Klein’s at his house in Bridgehampton, a very small town, where Madonna also has a house. If she’s sheltering in place there, can’t she pull something from her closet, drive over, stand 6 feet away, and take some photos?
