Unfortunately, sad to see that the biggest Vogue in the world doesn't use the best names...are Mert & Marcus doesn't work for Vogue USA anymore?
If there's one groundbreaking thing about VI, this is the first year that most of the cover subjects were woman of color. Only Vogue Latam and maybe British Vogue did it in recent times.
Yes! I remember that, but sadly was after the George Floyd assessination. It was quite forced and I see some self guilt from Anna and American Vogue (and most of media from there). She should have done it years ago. And this year was back to the usual. Edward keept the same spirit, it's more genuine from his side. And yes, I see Mr. Enninful's influence on recent VI and VP issues. I don't know if one year some edition of Vogue will put non white people on every cover for the same time period. Maybe will be nice as a gesture (and cool!), but next time should be from the heart and not after a terrible event.American Vogue did it a couple of years ago. Cardi B with her daughter, Naomi, Lizzo, Simone Biles, Ugbad, Adut, and Aurora James all had covers that year.

You definitely have a point that it was in part a reaction to George Floyd’s death, certainly I feel the September covers in 2020 were a direct result. But Cardi B, Ugbad, Adut, and Simone’s covers were all released and/or photographed prior to that. In any event, if one takes a cynical view on American Vogue’s diversity push as merely a reaction to that, I think the same would apply to Vogue Italia and a British Vogue. They may be European editions but they are obviously catering to and influenced by what’s going on, culturally, in America.
I mean, I know Edward is often praised for his efforts to diversify, but it seems like a very narrow interpretation of diversity. Perhaps it would feel more genuine to me if there were more space given to other minorities with large presences in the UK, France, etc. There's room for improvement all around.
After the Fendi bag campaign, we can hope Linda back at Vogue? Edward or Anna?
Vogue Thailand's August 2022 cover is a group photo. Layout-wise, it looks exactly like British Vogue under Edward.
