Cropped fur (and faux) jackets

I wore one of my stoles yesterday by layering it over a blazer...

I love stoles, I wore this one all winter and then sold it in my etsy store and cried a little.

the muu baa jacket arrived today and this baby is not going back. i love it.
will try and post pics soon

I love good quality faux fur, but I tend to prefer it as a trim, rather than as the medium for an entire garment (when I generally think it looks a bit too bulky and is overly warm).

I particularly like the combination of suede, or wool, with faux fur. :D

and i WANT IT SO BAD! what do u guys think?

I love the longer style (faux) fur coats as seen at emilio Pucci and Jaeger London. They sort of fit in with the folk trend. There are some good cheaper options on faux fur coats. There is also a bit of a trend for the faux fur gillets, sleeveless things as seen at Jean Paul Gaultier, Salvatore Ferragamo and Dolce and Gabbana.

Please help me with this
How do you like this mink coat? does it look like "an old lady" coat?
Do you think it is bulky?

Aris - tyhe coat is lovely and it most certainly does not look like an "old lady" coat. I can imagine it paired with jeans and boots that come up to near the hem of the coat. Perhaps with a dress and it would work for the "all black look" which I also love to try. As for being "bulky" I would need to feel it I think but it doesn't look it at all. Where is it from (and how much is it selling for?)

Yushan - as fakes go that one is I think "ok" without being too special.
Punky and Jessie - you both look fabulous I think.

Lovin_It, thank you !
I'm afraid that the shoulders are big - like the old coats years ago...
unfortunately I have to buy it online and can't try it...
it's from THES TZIVELY, and it's 2500 euro, which is less than what one would pay for a fabric coat from big brand names. This company is producing lot's of fur stuff, here is a very nice cropped jacket by the same brand, but it is more expensive - 3370 euro, and less practical for me.

I didn't like cropped jackets when I first saw them in 2005 or so. I didn't get what made them so special then. I eventually gotten over shrugs and eventually liked them. Now fast forward to now with these cropped faux fur jackets. A problem I had with these is that I usually want to cover as much of my torso and arms as possible on colder days. A really short jacket or shrug just doesn't do it. And when I think faux fur cropped jackets, I'd rather have a proper jacket to stay warm in than just something short like these jackets.

These things nonwithstanding, very nice jackets!

chanel - saw the pics in the secret shopaholics thread of your new coat and it looks great! I think the size you have is perfect. Just the right amount of swing. I also really like all the coats posted above. Personally, i find my jacket incredibly warm. It has bracelet sleeves but because i'm a bit more petite, I find that they often fall to my wrists when i've got my hands in my pockets. I still hope to buy some lovely long deep green or mustard yellow leather gloves to go with it though.

aris - i don't think that coat looks too oldlady like and it's hard to know without trying it on but it doesn't look too bulky too me. Looks just right.

There was a vintage (but amazingly good quality) coney fur jacket I could have bought today.
I really wanted to try it on (just to see if it fitted, like....)

What do you guys think about men in fur coats?
Could I pull off a plain one without looking gangsta?

tath would be dificult -
any way it will be helpful if you can put some pict.

ok i have a bit of a silly question: does it feel hot to wear a cropped faux fur shrug?

i'm kinda eyeing this piece, but I'm from a hot climate country, so I would like to know if wearing faux fur would make me feel hot.

gingeraunt: i just realized they dont ship to where i live! :(((((

blackpeace: i think it WILL be kind of hot... :/ but if you work/move about in air conditioning it should be still okay.

hope that helped

it will be kinda hot. Not as warm as genuine ones but even the faux ones are warm as they trap the air

well I knew it would happen! Working with vintage fur, one of my sleeves ripped open. It was while I was driving through bad weather, I needed to get my coat off so I just ripped it off as quick as I could. Thankfully, it's right down the seam so it shouldn't be too difficult (I hope) to repair....
