Cult Product Commentary

I used a Revlon curler before my Shiseido and there is some difference. It's built more sturdy, so that when you squeeze it you don't have to apply much force. The rubber pad is also firmer, which probably makes a difference. It's easier to get all of my lashes into it, but I suppose it might depend on the curve of your eyes. I definitely could survive on a cheap curler, it's just nicer.

I love Fracas, is a classic fragrance, of course made popular by madonna cause "its all she wears".

Skinflash, Dior's version of YSL's touche eclat, is much better imo, the shades are more natural and they dont stink up like YSL's. But its a cult cause it gets the job done, nothing less.

NARS' orgasm blush is excellent, sadly, i dont like pearlescent blushes, so its not my cup of tea, but I own it and use it on clients, and its just brilliant. literally.

Diorshow mascara, I dont get it. It's ok, but its not all that, I personally like the pink container mascara from maybelline, the one with the green cap. That thing, just rules.

That Chanel black varnish, its crap, I sold mine on ebay. It chips, therefore, sucks.

I love diorshow, I've tried so many and it was the best. I totally agree with you about YSL touche eclat though, mine smells awful and skinlights just does a better job.

Another product is Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Cream. It's basically a smelly, bad-tasting vaseline. Though it is stickier, so if you wanted the ever-praised oily foundation look, this may last longer.

omg, 8 hour cream rules.

i own the lipstick version and its the best thing for chapped lips, even to emergency moisturize under your eyes when you're rubbing off a lot of concealer. haha

i think there is a big difference in curlers personally. I find that the higher end ones give a more natural fuller curl while cheap ones tend to 'crimp' your eyelashes. I had a MAC one before my Shu one and I kind of preferred it but it does depend on your eye shape.

I have no special thoughts on eyelash curlers. I've used shu, the shiseido ones, the revlon ones, and they all do the same thing to me.

I have a cheap curler and it does its job.

I have to say i tried the maybelline great lash and it really was the worst mascara ever!

I had heard so much about the Shu Uemura eyelash curler, and a friend tried hers out on my eyelashes and they looked great. However when I picked one up and started to use it, it seemed like I didn't get the same effect. I've heard good things about the Shesheido curler, and even the Revlon curler. I'm contemplating the Revlon curler (for its price). Does anyone have experiences they'd like to talk about?

P.S. I also have Nars Orgasm and I love it, although I wish it was a tad bit less irridescent. Nars Bronzer in Laguna however I LOVEEE. :woot:

I must say I do enjoy NARS orgasm, although if you're looking for the same color with less shimmer I suggest NARS deep throat instead. It's just like orgasm but with less gold shimmer.

In terms of Great Lash, I wasn't so impressed with it before, but I learned a few tricks about it from MUA on how to apply it and it is actually pretty good. I do believe that's the mascara Alejandro referred to?

The thing that hasn't been brought up so much, while not really a product, I feel has a cult following and that's MAC. People seem to just collect/horde MAC products. I will admit, I love the fluidlines, but more often I feel it's the eyeshadows and pigments that seem to have the greatest following. And to be honest, I don't know how impressed I am with their eyeshadows; the color selection is wonderful but sometimes I just feel as if they aren't really pigmented enough.

really? I find MAC to be one of the most pigmented eyeshadow brands out there!

With curlers and mascara, it honestly all just comes down to personal lashes. I have pretty decent long lashes and therefore prefer a 'drier' mascara if that makes sense and whenever i get a new mascara I wait for it to 'dry out' a bit because wet ones make my lashes clump together. I think eyelash curlers would work the same. If you have a fairly generic eyeshape and lash density etc. any of them would work well on you, if you your lashes are a different way, or your eyelid a different shape, it might be more difficult.

Maybe it's just me but a lot of times I have to struggle with my MAC e/s to get the right amount of color that I want, could be because I use them dry though. But with other e/s like Pout, I can't quite seem to get rid of color. Still, I will continue to buy the pretty pretty MAC eyeshadows, I just wish the color payoff was a little better.

Maybelline Great Lash WP Mascara - after using several highend Waterproof Mascaras (Shu Uemura, Helena Rubinstein) I realized the pink tube does just as well, or even better. no clumping, no flaking and holds my curl. you can go from natural to drama just by layering without it making spider legs like other mascaras

Shu Uemura Lash curler - didn't work well at the beginning, but after trying again it's my everyday curler now

MAC Lipglass - Nice colors and scent, but sticky as hell (lasts quite long therefore)

MAC Eyeshadows - I love them for the range of colors, if you buy the pan version it's even cheaper than some drugstore brands that do not work as well

i tried maybelline's great lash a couple years ago and didn't like it. perhaps it's because i have asian lashes and i'm always looking for something that makes me lashes longer and thicker?

i also agree that shiseido's curler is better than revlon's. i believe shiseido's isn't as wide? and i didn't have to use that much force to curl my lashes, unlike revlon's

mac lipglass - lasts a long time, although i cant wear it on windy days or my hair will get stuck.

Shu Uemura eyelash curlers - ok, although revlon will do just as good a job.

Fracas - while it may be a classic fragrance, i think it smells dated and old ladyish.

NARS' orgasm blush is geat! worth the hype.

Sky High Curves from Maybelline should be a cult product. It really does hold the curl once you've gone through all the hassle with curling eyelashes, and it lengthens as well. I have only one complaint - the waterproof version only comes in black. It looks a bit harsh on pale blonde girls like me.

mac lipliner in "Spice"-make up artists say that it looks good on everyone, but I look like a cheap p*rn star with it

I don't get Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. I guess it's supposed to make your skin "youthfully radiant", but I've never managed to get anything out of it. The stuff doesn't absorb into the skin but forms a weird film over it. Then it sits there, not doing anything else for your skin except to make it look vaguely sweaty, if even that. Still it pops out all the time on 'classic' product lists and celeb recommendations. Inexplicable.

Prescriptives Magic Potion. It's basically a 'shimmer' product but i've never seen any work as well. It literally gives a 'glow' there are not discernable amounts of glitter in it or anything. It just gives a natural radiance. I got a sample of it a couple of years ago when i got some custom blended foundation at prescriptives and i still have at least half of it left. I'm not even sure they still make it but it's amazing.

About the MAC eyeshadows-I've always used Lancome when it comes to expensive makeup, but I tried an eyeshadow and liked it. The last Lancome shadow I bought takes at least 5 coats to get the right colour on me but it lasts, while MAC just takes two coats. I'm definitely hooked.

Have to agree about the Great Lash mascara though-it just plain stinks. Never tried the blushes, especially since I am more of a bronzer girl.

Oh really? I happen to love it! I often wake up with really dull and bland skin due to an accute lack of sleep and unhealthy teenage drinking habits, but if i put on just a really small amount of the beauty flash balm before i apply some make-up, it's doing wonders! My skin immediately is nicely glowing and even. And this is the first product of this kind which is actually working on my skin..
