Custom Handbags/exotic skins

I'm looking for the perfect spring/summer bag to have for years, an investment type bag, and love exotic skins. i have way too much python already to buy a devi kroell and i don't like the prada or nancy gonzalez designs in croc. i don't want to spend so much money and effort on an hermes, and have read that gucci, vuitton and perhaps others will take special orders for certain models in custom skins and colors. at the vuitton boutique i was told that ordering anything in a skin will cost a minimum of 40% over the price for the canvas, depending on the skin, and that only certain bags and accessories can be made in exotics. does anybody know more about the specifics of this process and pricing at either boutique, or have any other suggestions? i'm thinking i'd like an alligator, crocodile or ostrich shoulder bag in the butterscotch/beige/cream color range . . .

to update anyone who might be interested, ijust checked the vuitton online catalog and it looks like the only halfway attractive bag available in exotic skins is the alma, and i was hoping to avoid a tophandle . . . also checked out the lana marks site and thought the bags were very boring/old ladyish. the quest continues . . .

ooh that chanel is too pricey for me, so pretty though! with the anya hindmarch, is it only available in london? i live in the states. i do like it, maybe i'll call just to find out.

this bag doesn't carry a designer name but I was so interested in the type of skin that they used that I just had to post! The bag is made using Stingray skin, the following is a link to a pic of a stingray in case there is any question as to what the animal is

I'm a bit taken by the bag right now, it looks very...classy to me, and it's surprisingly inexpensive

Stingray skin is one of the best exotic skins...my mum had a stingray wallet once and it lasted for forever and it ages beautifully..until her bag got stolen and the wallet along with it.

In fact, I know that BV will be using stingray in some of their limited edition bags for the upcoming F/W collection. Looking forward to it.

I saw this one and it's non-branded. I liked it (got a thing or two about straps). The web site has a lot of handbags and purses, too. Looks like the site cares more for the quality of their stuff.
