I'm going to mess with the buttons on a stuffy, boring grey silk suit... I'm going to glue these awesome pins- cro-magnan man skulls, over top of the buttons! I think it will liven it up a little while still maintaining the conservative effect of the suit.

softgrey, that is amazing

this is a lamp I made, it's not really customisating, but I'm just testing how to post pics from my computer

this is one of my first customizations...
i bought a few shirts at the thrift store and cut them up. i cut a hole inthe black one and left a few dangling strings for later use... then i sewed another piece of black material behind to cover the hole..
the white piece is tied in using the dangling strings from before.. not sewn. and there are some safety pins i painted black and put through it for a more industrial look.

i was getting bored with the plain white tank. the flowers and leaves were cut from an old old old bed sheet, which had been stayed in the draw for over 10 years, and sew them on!
but they only stayed in the desired shape for a week..... after one careful wash, they seemed to lost the "freshness":(

^ I think they look better scrunched up like that. Adds texture! Really cool shirt btw.

custom tshirt by yours truly. used a new technique.. twisting the fabric! and besides that I cut the sleves to make them tighter, and damaged the edges.. i think ill do a little more damaging. i wonder if anyone likes this style?

My God--why havent I noticed this thread before? I love customizing my own clothes...Great rainy-day projects..

I started customizing my own clothes about 2 years ago..Actually, my inspiration was (start laughing now) HEATHERETTE ("God, look at that s***..I can make that myself.") I used to do the whole lets-cut-up-our-t-shirts thing, but now, I guess I just grew bored with it, so I just moved on...Now, I pretty much use anything and everthing I can get my hands on, usually what I can find in my friends art-supply collection...Ive used spray-paint, standard canvas-paint, stamps, bingo-dobbers (sp?), bleach, Kool-Aid (good enough to dye hair! haha--does anybody remember doing that?), wine..I even used my own blood: I once cut my hand open & decided to let it drip over a plain white t-shirt where your heart would be, a-la Dior Homme in one of the first collections...I almost always send shirts to the taylor to have darting placed in the back, or getting something shortened...Recently Ive been playing around w/ removing old buttons from items i find at thrift stores (jackets & jeans mainly) and attaching them to other garments, personal favorites being old buttons attached to shirts, like how kids in the punk scene use buttons & spikes to accessorize their jackets...Nearly everything out there is fair-game..

Now Im kicking myself for not buying that
digital camera or else I'd upload some pics here...Eh,maybe another time..

Great thread guys :flower:
