^ it's okay, I live like that too =) I really like it perlefine! Very cute.

Scott, that is amazing and so stylish! Very avantegarde~

I recently dyed a pair of McQueen boots because i didn't like the color, but couldn't live without them.

I like to sew my clothing, so I just make stuff whenever I can. When I do customize, I utilize the good ol' safety pin, so I can change up whenever I wear the garment again.

Inspired by Softgrey in the Frye Boots thread, I thew a red leather jacket into the wash to break it in. It worked! Now it's soft and a little crinkley. Perfect.

They were leather. It is a crapshoot dyeing shoes if you don't know what you're doing. But after numerous informational phonecalls to various companies, I decided to take the risk.

I'll post the before and after pick once I resize it.

I stenciled my fake converses .. wanted to practice on a cheapo pair first.
I stenciled a city sky line up the side of them.

tiamaria thats a sweet idea, but if you want some contructive criticism, it's kind of hard to tell its a cityscape unless you inform me its a cityscape. Maybe use a smaller pen and focus on straight lines. Awesome idea though :)

Fantastic ideas on this thread, Elegance I love your ribbon top! And the denim jacket with the flowers on, fab!

I've got a couple of plain white tshirts/halternecks I'm going to have a play with, has anyone used eyelets before? I want to make holes around the sleeves of the tshirt and thread ribbon through, make them a bit puffy, but I have no idea how to use an eyelet plier!

i plan on going on a small rampage between now and the end of the year...
we'll see if i actually get anything done......

getting started is the hardest part...:innocent:
and once i do...it's hard to stop...
maybe i'll just start by hemming some things and repairing my 'new' fur coat...

i want to see more people posting in here...:D

Customizing your clothes...

So how do you make a piece of clothing your own?
Personally, the farthest I've ever gone is to patch a pair of sweatpants I ripped  , at least it matched though...

I'm curious to see what others have done and maybe try some of it out.
Any ideas are appreciated

^welcome to tfs, i merged your post into the wonderful customisations thread:flower:

ooh grey i have the same plans for myself! brush up on my sewing skills, and actually make physical things out of my ideas.

welcome spyder! i can't wait to see what you and everyone else comes up with. i get so inspired by all the projects.

So I was rummaging though my jewlery and found a gwp cubic zirconia necklace- very unwearable as a necklace and very cheap; decided to do something with it. I cut off the clasp and draped it on a white ribbed tank top, sewed it up for two inches on each side at the neckline and I love it! It has a goddess/indian princess vibe to it- particularly when paired with a flowey skirt. Not quite my style, so I'll pair it with jeans! I love using what I have to perk up my stuff!

here's a shot of the customised cardigan:

It was a cut and sew vnk sweater that was a little oversized. I cut it in half lengthwise and took 2 inches out of the back so when it wouldn't pull to the front when I overlapped it to close it. I took the ribbing off of the vnk and ran it along one side of the neckline and then used part of the strip that I took out of the back to layer the on the front for the placket. then I cut the facing out of a vintage tshirt for the other side of the sweater. When I finished and tried it on (after a few drinks and working with pins in the mirror) I realized that I put the plackets backward (right over left like a womens, not left over right like mens).....so in stead of using buttons or snaps I'm using random button/badge pins to keep it closed.

Don't drink and sew!!!

detail shot to show the ribbing on the neckline and the raw edge on the other....held closed with a Bling Kong button/badge............it's really black....the camera is just bad

came out really well chris...
very 'finished'...while still a bit raw...
looks great...

:flower:...
