Cynthia Nixon is swapping HBO for Showtime.

The “Sex and The City 2” star has just signed on to guest star in four episodes of Showtime’s upcoming series, “The Big C,” alongside Laura Linney.

In the show, about Cathy (Laura), a teacher given a terminal cancer diagnosis, Cynthia will play Rebecca, Cathy’s former college roommate, a flake, who re-enters her life and shakes things up.

Cynthia isn’t the only star in the mix.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, “Precious” Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe plays one of Cathy’s students.

“The Big C,” will premiere August 16 on Showtime at 10:30 ET/PT.

Marinoni gave birth to the couple's son on February 7. Nixon, 44, and Marinoni, 43, began dating in 2004 and became engaged in 2009. Nixon has two children, Samantha, 14, and Charles, 8, from her previous relationship with Danny Mozes.
