Is it true that if you want some slimmer legs/butt it's better to walk and not run? Because I've been tempted to run lately but I don't wanna gain inches on my hips! :x

I don't think that's true, but if you don't want to gain any inches you should do the elliptical/ treadmill/ bike with no resistance at all. And avoid the stepper, it'll bulk up your quads and has such a low calorie burn that personally I think it's utterly crap.
I found this really enlightening - for once somebody seems to understand that the same workout couldn't possibly work equally well for all body shapes. And if that's not your body shape you can do a little quiz to work out what is http://diet.ivillage.com/measure/mshape/0,,9nqb,00.html
I did another 20 minutes of Winsor pilates - the harder one this time.
My stomach f****** hurts now and I'm looking forward to the nice unavoidable muscle ache I'll be having tomorrow. It was fun, though. I estimated that if I do this at least thrice a week from now on, I'll have a tummy made of steel in summer.
I'm pear shaped as well. Small on top, larger thighs and butt! Augh, it's so annoying... But I'm so glad that there are others like me here to give exercise tips.
