Daily Exercise

- 30 minutes of strength (weights, leg lifts, squats, situps, crunches)
- 20 minute powerwalk

^ I didn't plan on it but I ended up switching it up between powerwalking and running :)

Yesterday
30 minutes of circuit style weight training (short and sweet, yet intense)

Today:
my usual 4mile run plus an hour walk

15 min elliptical, one mile something
50 calorie burn on row, six minutes
60 reps on three different machines for arms, i like the one where you sit in a chair and you push down and it lifts your seat up!
10 mins on treadclimber, not as hard as the stairmaster but im not sure if i love it yet
10 reps on the ab thing..just for hell of it! but by then my arms were all shaking, i could barely support myself
..the boys invited me to go jogging..mind you it was 11:40 at night! i passed on it, i think its great to jog outside in the fresh night air but im still having problems with my shins

taking it easy because its a saturday night! of course gym was soooo empty! its kind of weird to see it that way but errrybody is 'making love in the club'

good job to everyone who posts on here! ^_^ any bit of workout & effort is good. i was just talkin to my sister about it "hey its a f'n saturday night and we here at the gym, thats pretty damn good already!" *high five*

^ That's so true!! Hehe aww that's cute! It's nice you have someone to exercise with!

Oh, in addition to Sandi Healey's advice, there are a number of "Pilate" videos on utube, which may be of some help.

Yes, yes, I know. I've been doing Pilates videos for a while now, and I thought I was doing them the correct way, but I can't have the navel pushed into the spine all the time, I mean, I forget about it and concentrate on where I've to put the leg or so on, difficult!!!

^ Cool...hope your neck feels better.

What kind of exercise do you practice to have thinner calves? Swimming?

As Couture_Tribe has said, its not really possible to spot reduce with exercise.

So depending on which kind of tissue were talking, cardio will reduce from all over body. Swimming is an excellent toner.
Surgery can remove a bit of either tissue i believe.

If you feel that asthetically your calves look out of place with thighs, maybe build up thighs?
I did find this article:

"Causes apart from Genetics:

1. Wear shoes which is not suitable for the legs, or being a big fan of high heels
2. Frequently standing for a long time, resulting in poor blood circulation of veins and accumulation of toxins on lower body parts.
3. Incorrect exercise style, make fat attached to muscle and become fat accumulation on the legs.

4 Easy Things You Can Do to Get A Beauty Sexy Legs
Reduce Calf Size :
Most people think that walking too much can cause bulky calves/ radish legs, so they decide to reduce it. In fact, aerobic/ cardio exercise i.e. walking, jogging, skipping or riding bicycles, etc., are the best exercise to shape the legs, as long as you do stretching for at least 15 minutes after every workout to restore the flexibility of muscle.

With cardio, stretching, assisted by appropriate amount of massage and lifestyle changes (such as reduce the frequency of wearing high heels, proper diet, etc.), than you can get a beauty sexy leg easily!

Step 1: Cardio Exercise

Do standing or seated calf raises before every cardio workout. Choose type of cardio exercise that you prefer; jogging, swimming, running, cycling, skipping, etc.

Standing calf raises:

1. Stand steadily with the balls of your feet on the edge of a ladder or other object which is 20 cm higher from the ground, you can put your hands on the wall for balancing, heels hang in the air.
2. Slowly rise up your heel and stand on your tiptoe, squeeze at the highest point, then at the same speed lower down your heel as far as possible.
3. You can start by doing at least 2 sets of 10 reps and increase the amount of sets and reps by time when you've overcome it.

Step 2: Stretching

Face a wall with one foot in front of the other, both palms against the wall. Your back foot should be about three feet from the wall, your front foot about halfway between your back foot and the wall. Keep both heels on the floor. Bend your front knee and lean forward gradually until you feel the stretch in your back calf. Hold for 10 to 30 seconds, switch leg and repeat at least 5 sets.

These steps mention above are for gastroc stretch, there's also soleus stretch which is good for your calves too.

Step 3: Calf Muscle Massage

1. Soften fat accumulation: sit with one leg bent in front of the chest while the other legs twisted. Try to relax the body, massage your calf muscle from ankle to knee direction using your palm.
2. Remove tightness: rub the lower part of the leg with two hands intensely, knead from bottom to up.
3. Increase flexibility: stroke up the calf using empty middle palm to reduce fatigue and add more flexibility.

Step 4: Lifestyles Changes

Change your lifestyles i.e. keep away from high heel or inappropriate shoes, proper diet: high-fiber, low-protein, and low-carbohydrate diet, avoid standing for a long time or walking on uneven surface, etc."

^_^ yeahhhh its so much more fun when you have someone to work out with and to encourage you! i think its a great way to hang out with someone, you can chat and it doesnt have to be centered around food like always going out for lunch or dinner. we're still tryin to get my other sister to come out to the gym..she has been to the gym with me approximately one time and she hasnt been back..

easy night tonight, gym is soo empty this whole weekend..i mean i know its the weekend but still its very unusual to see it like this. maybe people dont want to drive to the gym because of gas prices, i durno.

50 calorie burn on rowing machine
10 mins on stairmaster, got tired really fast today
60 reps on arm machines
5 measily reps on new(to me) abs machine where you curl into a ball, i dont like it!
30 reps on abs thing, where you lift your legs up. easier today!

i was talking to my boss about my shin pains when i run on the treadmill, he says i might have to get a brace for when i work out! oh noes! thats so sadddd..well the plan is to keep taking it easy for now, elliptical for cardio and walk not jog on treadmill.
