100 mile personal best

On Oct. 17 I set a personal best cycling 100 miles on a road bike in 5 hours, 16 minutes, 33 seconds. My previous 100 mile PB was 5:57:00 in 2008. I was alone most of the way and I avoided paceline groups--no drafting...

At my body weight that amounts to burning a little over 4000 calories so taking on fuel and water was critical. Feed zones were at roughly every 25 miles plus one at about 80. They had several kinds of fruit, cookies, candy bars, crackers, sports drinks, water, and so on.

The event was the Spaghetti 100--an organized event winding through north Florida and south Georgia. This year about 260 cycling addicts showed up. It is not an official race so anyone can try it. It was hard but I had a blast besting myself. At the finish they had massage therapists for anybody who wanted. Two of them went to work on me--this was absolutely necessary and it felt really good too...

Wow that's so much time, nice. I need to get back to my swimming training.

Hope you manage to :flower: It is so peaceful being in the water.

Yesterday - 2hr walk @ beach + 30mins weight training

Today - 50mins @ gym (cycling, rowing, lots of weight training)
1hr 15min swimming

Managed to go, today, for a hour :)
The training of today made me realize how much out of shape I am
I need to go at least 3 times a week ...

yesterday and the day before yesterday: rode a bike for half an hour
a little bit of "frescobol" on the beach. it is like tennis with rackets made of wood, i don't know the name in english hehe

I'm only allowed to go walking... i mean not to get into extreme sports but im also a bit lazy
So i would say my "sport" is mainly walking...i used to run & play tennis...Oh! I even went to the gym for a while to get some stronger muscles or so... but yeah i was lazy either way...
