Daily Exercise

30 min run on the treadmill today.
ive gone a few months without exericising (was on adderall), so today was kind of painful! but i know ive got to get back in shape, this is getting ridiculous.

a couple of (probably really stupid) questions:
1. is it better to do a run 5 min and then walk 2 min cycle on the treadmill? what exactly are the intervals recommended? because i read that walking between running burns more calories

2. how many min. on a treadmill equals a mile? (i usually stay at about 4.3 speed)

^1. Do you go to a gym ? If so, you can just ask the trainer. It's certainly good to do that, but I don't know about the intervals at all.

2. I have no idea, usually machines show the number of miles you have done, so I guess that machine you use, doesn't show ... 4.3 is very slow, so 1 hour maybe.

just the gym at my apartment complex lol, no trainer there.
and 4.3 on the treadmills here has me running and losing my breath after 6-7 min lol. if its slow then im way out of shape.

Is the treadmill you're using giving you a reading in *** or miles? That makes a huge difference. :p

Haha, I thought all the machines were the same. I guess it's not like that. I could only start running at 8.50 when I was in gym. It must have be 1-20 and yours 1-10. So let's say in 30 min you'd do a mile.

I just did my first swimming workout at the pool that I have done in YEARS. Oh boy, it was hard work. I knew it wasn't going to be easy....being so long since I last went swimming but it seems I'm more out of condition that I thought....LOL. I spent a good half hour there then walk 35-40 minutes home.
Now I'm knackered.

I walked for 40 minutes (and I walk FAST) in a rainstorm in a big slicker. Then I did sit ups and various yoga exercises while the lazy 19 year old cat watched me.Why can't we be like them?!

I´ve realized I can work at home as hard as at the gym, even harder maybe. I do Jillian Michael`s "No more trouble zones" and as cardio "fat boost metabolism" or what the heck was the name..They are seriously hard work, little bit boot camp style..I do both of them 2 times in a week, and in addition I do some fun aerobics, like Ministry of sounds Pump it up-series, they make me sweat, too.

Haha, if you stop for years, that's what happens. I did stop for years as well, then I got back and had classes because I didn't know how to swim that much and had no resistance. So I had classes in the medium pool and the first classes I couldn't do half of the pool, I'd get extremely tired.

Today:

- Swimming - 1 hour

Today: 30 min jog through the park

I am also a Bikram Yoga addict!!! :D I can't wait to go to my next class on Monday!

LOL....it was quite the blow to my ego because I used to be a really good swimming. My upper body isn't very strong at all these days.
I'm planning on going back to the pool today and giving it another go. I still have my swimmers technique, I just don't have the power and endurance. Hopefully in time I can do 1 hour like you without feeling like I'm going to die.
