gonna sound like a crazy snob lol but being in the same conglomerate as michael kors in first place was already a dead giveaway as to why versace was going through a downfall in the eyes of non-fashion insider people and standard consumers imo

Donatella as CD never upset me because I think she was the natural person at the time, but lets be real, she never would've been CD of a major label if Gianni hadn't passed, and it shows in her collections

Good point! If he can bring that Miu Miu energy to reinvigorate bags and accessories , give a possible IT bag for Versace , it will be a huge asset. My guess he was hired for this purpose because Miu Miu makes very nice bags

If only all the « not good designers » were as good as Donatella, some brands wouldn’t be in the sh*t show they are now.

Donatella is an icon, for sure—but under her direction, there was no real way to push the brand forward creatively, judging by her output in recent years.

I'm cautiously hopeful about Dario's version of Versace—definitely intrigued to see his interpretation.
I hope (and even expect) that Prada will acquire Versace and implement a stronger infrastructure and clearer strategy than whatever Capri has been trying to achieve. Honestly, at the rumored €1.5 billion, Versace is almost a bargain considering the brand's global recognition and awareness. There's a lot of potential and material for Dario to work with, but also a lot of pressure.
