Dario Vitale - Designer, Creative Director of Versace

one of the most beloved intellectual creative directors speak in the most direct and brutal simple ways you would think this person works on a fish market its funny.
everyone in the company knows and its nothing odd..... but to the outside world it would be something else (a shock) if they only knew :-)
PM entered the chat...

emails from a big shot lawyer that leads m&a operations worth billions but cannot for the sake of her life write an intelligible message

Totally more common in corporations than people know or stand still to mention or notice, i think many folks have this idea of pretty and perfect poetry convo´s and ways of communication when billions are involved but its not!!! people that run things are a mix bunch of characters with lots of flaws including writing.

Most truly intellectual people irl are surprisingly down to earth — from arthouse film directors like Park Chan-wook to Nobel literature awarded writers like García Márquez, and of course professors and scientists etc. In fashion, the pioneers of Avant-Garde – Yohji Yamamoto and Issey Miyake are also known for their humor and laidback personality. Just because people like Raf and Miuccia act cliché doesn’t mean everyone so-called “intellectual” does.

And Dario will stay? lol...
Now that he is here, that he made a splash and that Versace is in the conversation again, which has not happened at Versace in a decade (even though it's a quite heated debate), imho it would be rather premature and frankly disappointing to let him go too soon, before seeing the reactions on the store floors.

And the persistently declining sales need a bit of that Miu Miu recipe.

But it's Prada Group, so I am used to disappointments.

The 3 buyers from different countries i know all 3 where public supportive/silent lol but in private disliked the collection and say it's a hard sell & good luck to them..say its expensive and odd we already have Miu Miu was the feedbacks i remember.

my eyes are still in PAIN after this
you guys if they keep Vitale after this car crash of a presentation or whatever that was i will seriously start believing in some sort of sorcery or black magic because theres no other adequate logical explanation :censored:

That's my thinking...lots of editors and buyers needed to public "support" because it is convenient to them (just like Dior) but behind the velvet rope there is another story...

I guess they just wanted to test the waters with this "private" show...but not sure if they got the responses they were aiming for to reassure Vitale's presence...

He can go back to Miu Miu...he is a better fit there...

his beloved muse francesca side kick is happy to be finally the main girl at miu miu she has more dare in her style than he ever did.

@PDFSD do you have any information on whether Vitale will stay at Versace moving forward?
nope ..i assume he is on thin ice but let's see maybe they cant even get who they want and he is there longer ....
few more days and prada is owner officially then we see how fast they move and how prepared the are

So it's implied that they are looking for a replacement and have Vitale as their "better than nothing"...
and with the closure of the deal, it will arrive with some big decisions...

They can do what influencers do when things go wrong..."we were doing a social experiment.." lol...

"We are very excited to be working with a brand that has a very different DNA than Prada. But I won't talk about revolution.
If you look at Miu Miu over the past few years, we have not changed things dramatically, but it has been an incredible success.

We don't need to revolutionize Versace. What we need are a few smart changes and to be patient," insisted Lorenzo Bertelli, the eldest son of Prada designer Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli, Prada Group chairman and executive director.

Added Guerra: "This is a long-term project that means we are talking about foundations, image, positioning, creativity and our ability to develop product collections. Our goal will be sustainable revenue growth in the long term, but not in the next 18 or 24 months."

When quizzed on whether Prada was consulted about Vitale's appointment at Versace, Bertelli replied: "When Dario gave his resignation, we tried to hold him where he was. This was his decision. We had no consultancy role, and we got no commission!"
Though, when asked if Prada was happy to find Vitale at Versace, Guerra was diplomatic:
"We are very happy to welcome all the Versace team, wherever they are in the world. This is a project where we need to be warm and let everyone have the possibility to show their talent."

From what I heard, he's out. They consider traitors anyone who leaves Prada anyway, so... It's exactly a matter of who they want / can get and finalising the contract. Since the one they allegedly wanted ended up staying where he is apparently (for the sake of extra $$$), I have a feeling this is going to take a minute.

I wonder how much of a reshuffle they (Prada) are going to operate, also within other teams.
