Dario Vitale - Designer, Creative Director of Versace

Any word if the collection will actually be produced? With how it’s priced, it’s not going to be an easy sell.
It’s being produced.
Orders and special orders have been re-confirmed with retailers and clients as soon as the news came out.

jeremyy scott.. cause why not
I like this. He literally saved Moschino from irrelevancy after years of staleness under Jardini + Anna Dello Russo direction. He might have released tacky collections but we still remember them, it made an impact on his own. And I am sure his Moschino had much better commercial success than Appiolaza and Jardini, it was very merchandise oriented though. The fact that the only hit bag Moschino ever had was indeed from Jeremy speaks volumes.
In current fashion landscape, if you're not a big player, the only way to survive is to do pop / viral and Jeremy is a master in that. Look at Jacquemus, he is established thanks to his narrative, marketing gigs and that's exactly what Versace needs not to be eaten alive by the competitors.

Whoever from Capri thought showing this would have been a good idea...ugh.
Place these mannequins in a big mall and people would think it's Desigual. The striped high waisted pants paired with gaudy prints. The face photo prints. It looks tacky and undesirable at the same time. It's not even a good "in your face" tacky that you would want to flaunt, it's giving intellectual elevated tacky.

Hell no to Jeremy Scott. His taste level is so questionable he only performs well when he's doing a parody or drawing from pastiche.
And I have always felt like he used his sense of humor to hide his lack of technical sense.

Versace and even more, High fashion at that height has to match some technical standards. We know people are buying sweatshirts, tshirts and jeans but we want to see Drapes, plisses, biais cut, chainmail etc and all the intricacy of design because that’s also a duty in HF.

Surprised that Dario still went through with his “first public appearance” at La Scala last night with his Versace crew (Russell Tovey, Rina Sawayama, and Mahmood)

Considering what he presented as his runway debut, they look actually passable. Mahmood looks a bit Walter Mercado-ish and Rina Sawayama looks like the villain in some tacky 80s Mexican telenovela but I get the feeling this is intentional.

Rina looks good for a British artist who makes embarrassing music. A little more Bob Mackie than Versace, but she pretty much looks exactly like what the early Versace adopters in Japan looked like in the 80's before it became all about the prints.

He leaned too much into the archive with the cut.

I am not sure who can really wear that men's look without looking like Elton John. It is interesting that he is still posting his photos and unseen work.

Hedi could make Versace cool but I his women's leaves much to be desired. Has he been seen with Donatella, are they acquaintances? I would imagine she gets along with everyone, even the divas because she is queen supreme in a certain way.

Tbh, even though the collection wasn’t that great and the situation between Prada and Capri was messy, he tapped to an era of Versace I love.
Anything before 1990 and after 1995 referenced will always get my attention.

I hope the next CD will not overlook that time. Donatella has referenced and milked everything between 1991 and 1995 enough for us to move on from it culturally.
