Demna Gvasalia - Designer, Creative Director of Gucci

with the way how collections look these days, i doubt the current CD's have touched a fabric before they get replaced. That's why everything look the same, no personal touches anymore.

Even production videos released by houses on their instagram only show the artisans, while in the past its not a surprise to see the actual CD get down and dirty cutting or draping a dress on manneqquins.

The bar is so so low that were in an era where a designer is praised for still actually sketching looks.

i hate that guy, he is such demna stan. fashion victim

When your first ever Gucci purchase turn out to be the most basic Jackie bag in all black leather with a « worn out » treatment, it tells me everything I need to know in terms of lack of personal style or identity.

He could have went for a RTW piece and didn’t need the validation of Demna to buy a Jackie.

This is unfortunately the type of customer Gucci needs right now.

Can we dissect the second slide too as a forum community-building exercise?

funny you mention this as i'm scrollin through the alaia thread and mulier is going on about how he told the team he wanted "ball gowns but sex" and the clothes needed to cry... maybe i'm being uncharitable, but when you see someone like galliano talk about a collection he's nerding the f*ck out about the actual *construction* of the work as much as the emotion.

Mulier really said that… that’s unhinged. I wouldn’t even associate Alaia with ballgowns either. Evening wear of course in a slinkier sense, but not “ballgowns”.

You know what I’ll be honest this Gucci reboot lost steam for me already even if I’m half in when he did the reveal. I guess we’ll see when the next show’s here.

I don’t understand why pieces were not available online? Also… what the point they are limited to only October? The pieces are produced. Isn’t it better to keep them till they sell out? What are they gonna do with unsold pieces (in case there are any)?

Also… black packaging is here to stay? First I was no, but after seeing all the unpacking videos - it’s kind of grew on me :) it’s low key iconic. Whoever lived in TF era - it it true the packaging is from those days? Saw someone mentioning that

I'm imagining most of the major pieces were produced in very limited quantities (perhaps 1-2 of each size per location), so they're doing this to both induce desire/hype, and to gauge demand. And the site does say that there will be an "online launch," the date is just indeterminate. If there is anything left over from this initial brick and mortar launch, they'll shift it online and sell it with a second round of production (in numbers reflecting the information gleaned from this initial launch).

i have one dress idea for all except emma she is the old lady at x mas party cocktail
the bouncer is at the door and the gay adopted son in sparkle top is spiking the punch

The absolutely chaotic house, the train wreck, the sinking of the Titanic....

But when it comes to THAT moment where you have to shine, to exude confidence, and you do because you know you look sexy, and not like a clown or anonymous... Gucci serves.

These garments are flattering and all these people look fabulous.

I can imagine how top management at LVMH or Chanel during the last months wouldn't want to touch Gucci not even with a stick...
Well, who's laughing now? 🤭

Yeah…Eveningwear/Redcarpet dressing is really the least exciting of fashion ever.
I hope Demna will concentrate more on his daywear in his collections.

Nothing bores me more than a sequined column dress.

I guess Iris’s dress is a reference to fall 2004.

Since reading that article on Peter’s Hawking’s Tom Ford and the fact that they payed her (out of all people) to attend his show, I cannot take her seriously…
Obviously people in the industry seems to take her seriously lol.
