Denim shorts

I've been obsessed with the Siwy Denim Cut Off shorts since 2006 and I see it's made a big comeback this summer.ie Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Nicole Richie wore them all in the same week.
I was just in the siwy thread- there are a few of us OBSESSED and I see Siwy added a new one with a feather roach clip!!!!!!!! Could you die!? It's beautiful! I'm buying them tomorrow night on shopbop after I get paid!!

remove the feathers and put in the hair!

I have the regular Camilla's from Siwy x 2. I wore them even a few months ago, with black tights and gray knee boots.

but you're right, they have been worn for years.

I'm not sure where in America you live ulterior- but America is the birthplace. It might not be the best denim in the suburbs, but its all anyone wears in the city and suburbs.

I guess that could go for anything. I think in some ways it can be a trend, but I do think it's classic type of look. People have been wearing ripped shorts. I guess they call it a trend, when you wear it a certain way.

I think it can go in here.. as well as being a classic item always in your closet it does have some periods where it's bigger than others

like all classic items it never really disappears but sometimes it's just everywhere

Totally agree with everything! (Except I'm in Southern California). Erin Wasson, and of course, Kate Moss, wear them well.

Kate Moss makes me want to buy MORE shorts (B)) she wears everything so well though..

I must admit working in street wear I have seen cut off's being sold by Frankie B, Citizens and True Religion...and they are really nice! Hudsons too. But those SIWYs I reallllly like. Wish we sold those.

I love them if you style them well it can look good, love how erin and kates wears them. today I bought one and also its very easy to make them haha I reacently cut some old jeans

it does seem to have become a fashiony item these days.

it makes me regret all the worn-out jeans that i dumped instead of making them into cut-offs.

homemade cut-offs are the best.

The shorts I've been fond of lately are cuffed short shorts. Either those, or those rather short board shorts from Holliser and other surf-influenced designers. I don't know why you'd wear shorts with tall boots in warmer weather (referring to Post #21), but I'd probably go with some of those ankle boots for some romantic appeal. A style of ankle boot I'd go with for those wanting to wear boots with shorts would be like the Trishia ankle boots from Steve Madden. Either those, or any boots that are styled more like pumps or regular shoes.

My of-the-moment favorite shorts are cuffed short shorts, especially trouser-like cuffed short-shorts. I've never liked Bermuda shorts. I'm not as excited about them like most other people. They are almost like capri pants that have an identity crisis between being shorts or pants. Back to cuffed shorts for a moment (especially cuffed denim shorts). Here are some cuffed short shorts

if you go to the siwy myspace, their is a picture of that model kat shandrunk in her look book wearing super short rolled shorts with black ankle boots. looks amazing!

i LOVE denim shorts.. cut offs, rolled, exposed inner pockets, everything.
they are a summer staple for me.

EDIT: here are some i saw back in november that i absolutely fell in love with.. i love how magda wears them, and the shorts themselves are amazing. (needs pair like this)

there is one almost like that in the Melanie Huynh thread, where she styled with the pockets out. she is also wearing a pair mid thigh, with a tight roll.

I visited the Myspace page you were referring to. One model had traditional-type denim shorts paired with these ankle boots that look more like pumps. I guess you all can say that I'm loving cuffed garments nowadays.

Finally... the shorts look okay in Post #35, the stockings or tights are fine... I just don't like the exposed inner pockets. Just seems trashy to me.

it depends on the person. it would look trashy on britney, paris, or pam anderson. It would look amazing on obviously, a chic super model etc.

i think magda works those shorts because of her simplistic yet edgy style. they work with the outfit really nicely.
and i do agree, if someone like britney or paris wore them (and would most likely add loads of gaudy accessories or pink ) it just wouldnt work. i guess the person's air has something to do with it too.
