^ That's like... a denim swimsuit :ermm:

I wish overalls had stayed in the 90s.

oh laika...
i love the first two images you posted!

even though you couldn't pay me to wear denim overalls, those do look super...
though i do think those girls would make anything look good...

^_^

i don't know about the whole bib thing for me...
but i really like it whenever yohji does them in gabardine and the like...
they are usually so super baggy and tailored and just tres chic...
j'adore

Overalls are one thing that never left my wardrobe since I started wearing them in the 90s. I love them! I know they're not high fashion, but I don't think they're meant to be. I think they look best styled simply, not with high heels or any overly contrasting piece.

Here's a reader slideshow from the NYT. I like the overall pinafore in the girl from San Francisco best. I think she must have cut off a floor-length skirt to make it cooler. I've seen the kind before in thrift stores, but it always looked too Mormonish with the long skirt so I passed them over.

that first image really reminded me of you, so i'm glad you like it! :flower:
i figured you wouldn't do it with denim though...

i wouldn't either...i am completely on board with the wool gab.
it just drapes so beautifully.

in college i had an amazing pair of deep rust-colored overalls in a sort of velveteen fabric. i wore them with a black turtleneck and it really did look chic. wish i still had those...

I like this more geometric take on overalls - my only complaint being that I'd prefer it in solid white.

I've been trying on soo many different types of overalls lately, I was close to buying some indigo loose gap ones and some leather Zara ones. But they just weren't right. I think as much as I like some of them on some people, I feel too much like a hipster in them.. At least the ones I've tried so far.

I just love overalls, so I love it whenever they come back. I, however, look hideous in them and so, my sad overalls cycle starts : (

Tbh I might just start trying these out......in shorts form of course

I like the long classic 90s overalls but you have to be so careful with the styling to avoid looking like a child or a farmer. Rolling the hem and wearing them with some kind of chunky heeled but still casual sandal seems to work. The shorteralls and pinafore styles are probably easier and less confronting to the general public's overall hating sensibilities, but less interesting, because didn't we already do that revival around 2007? I feel like long overalls have been gone long enough to feel fun again.

I just skimmed this thread and see that the early posts WERE from 2006-7 but that there were plenty of very skinny leg long overalls around too. Perhaps it is the slouchier leg ones which seem, for me, to have been gone long enough to seem like a good idea again, although the skinny levi pairs from the early part of this thread do hold up well!

^ I agree. The classic overalls are always the way to go, but it's really a hit or miss with this trend. They must be well fitted and styled to a T or you risk looking like an oversized child. In any case, I welcome the revival of classic overalls with open arms:smile:
