i found the best denim cuttoff shorts at a vintage store the other day. cost me $20 but the fit was perfect.
another alternative is going to value village or a salvation army (in canada) where it is a cheap(er haha) alternative, but it was hard to find a pair small enough in the waist.
although i do like the cuttoffs from the erin wasson x rvca line, it sure beats paying $200
I really like some of the Sass & Bide denim shorts and some other designer shorts because I like to baggier/mid-length look (as opposed to the hotpants, stretch/tight look of all the denim shorts in mall stores), but I can't imagine paying $200 for shorts...
If anyone is looking for a reasonably-priced pair of loose-fitting denim shorts, I found the perfect pair at Free People... For some reason, the Acid Wash shorts are cut different than all of the rest, and they're a really nice, loose, mid-thigh-length cut... for $68. Just thought I'd let you know since I've been looking everywhere and finanlly found some!
The girls at my school think they're all trendy when they wear this style in three sizes too small. It's gross -- I can practically see their internal organs.
This is good:
This is bad:
You can't really tell that those are ridiculously tight on, but trust me--they are.

I just DIYed my own pair. I had some dark denim Bermudas, so I shortened them, distressed them with an X-Acto, and bleached them. They look really good. I'll probs put a picture up soon.
