designer toys

http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=...does+anyone+really+care?(i+do+but+it)&spell=1in recent times i have noticed the rise of designer toys in more "urban" clothes shops and boutiques.they are most often displayed in a cabinet or on shelves in a fashion somewhat akin to some kind of ultra kitch fine art.
these toys usally take the form of qees(http://www.qeester.com) and michael lau(http://www.michaellau-art.com/) figuers but other things like kubricks and other random japanese toys are popular to.
they can also be seen in places like tower records and anywhere eles that considers itself to be on the cutting edge of urban culture(maharishi).
has anyone else seen them ? if so did you like them? and does anyone really care?(and did anyone start collecting them?)

i have versache barbie if that counts, you can also buy gucci dog toys

Not so recent.. Danish furniture designer Kay Bojesen made this cute wooden monkey back in 1951

Also, the Gucci stuffed little teddy bear, I think that there is a Burberry one too...
But also there is that Ralph Lauren Polo teddy bear... wow! Everyone makes teddy bears nowa days.... oh! oh! oh! and that Juicy Couture Barbie too!

Designer Toys S/S 05

I just came across these on kidrobot- had not heard of this collaboration before--

Toy-designer Huck Gee Skullhead figurines (they are NOT DOLLS!) clothed in S/S 05 designs by Jil Sander, Rick Owens, Duckie Brown, Marc Jacobs, and Dries van Noten.:p
http://www.kidrobot.com/search.php?keyword=sander

<a href="http://www.kidrobot.com/search.php?keyword=sander">kidrobot</a>

Kidrobot takes to the runway with a line of limited edition 12-inch figures produced exclusively by Kidrobot for high-end fashion retailer Barneys New York. Super toy god Huck Gee’s signature Skullhead is immaculately dressed in the 2005 Spring collections of by five of the world’s most famous fashion designers: Marc Jacobs, Jil Sander, Dries Van Noten, Rick Owens, and Duckie Brown. Each designer supplied the actual fabric used in their men’s Spring 2005 collection to ensure authenticity.

Each toy is packaged in an individually numbered black box that is patterned after the Barneys New York signature black shopping bag. Each toy includes rings, bracelets, a Skullhead sword and a velvet storage bag. The most fashion forward line of 12-inch figures ever made! Very few of each figure has been made. Highly collectible!

Hi Lena:heart: and tangerine:flower:!!

I have just been doing a hodgepodge of other things for the last few months, but it is really good to see some familiar folks around tfs-- so much has changed around here. I plan to stay more involved from now on- I almost forgot what a great community this is:heart::heart::heart:

Handmade Designer Toys/Dolls

Ever since the rise of handworking combined with naivete,I've started noticing some designers are including special handmade toys as figures or as accessories. From Boudicca(although in a different sense,I suppose)to even Kawakubo with her "Made With Love" line to Jun Takahashi,Tess Giberson,LRRH and Susan Cianciolo.

Here's "Made With Love":

hey scott. i love collectibles.

you may want to consider merging with these other threads:

http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums/f60/designer-toys-s-s-05-a-32288.html?highlight=designer+toys

http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums/f60/visionaire-limited-edition-dior-homme-mcqueen-lv-prada-toys-21069.html?highlight=designer+toys

^ the visionaire toys are wayy overpriced. i picked them up and they were hardly substantial. maybe the cost would be warranted if they were glass salt and pepper shakers or came nesting chocolate...

great topics scott, here is the second edition we did for made4now with the world famous Berliner design team butterflysoulfire
came out as bfsf4now hope you like it..
