runner .....you must go everywhere with your camera ....and most importantly of all to the RIGHT places and spot on objects !! ........ are you able to snap pics of shop interiors and displays too ??.....that would be fun ...and complete the experience !!

re uniqlo .....these peices are of course exceptional BUT are they available in Japan at all ??..or are they only in the USA .........dont remeber seeing any of the "designed pieces " even at their main store in Tokyo .....and some look better in photos and when it comes to actually touching it the luxury feel is not apparent.

what gives ?

i had bought some of their HOME collection .called HOTEL something i think and to my horror i found out that its not 100% cotton but with poly or something ....when i unwrapped it .alas ....at home!!...

i stilll love uniqlo for what it does ..but surely they cuold afford to use 100% cotton for such thinngs

btw

thanks for the amazing photos runner of uniqlo and all the other wonderful pixs

I don't want to visit stores carrying any machine which can distract me, sorry.
but about uniqlo interior/display pics, maybe they are up somewhere if you comb the internet.
according to softgrey, their NY store display seems very nice.

this casmere line is available all over japan of course (I guess it's worldwide too).
if I remember rightly, the designers capsules for last fall were delivered to almost every uniqlo store in japan.
but the ones for last spring were sold limitedly.

as far as I know, the cashmere feels just like cashmere, which is apparent.
in my opinion, some of the pieces from the capsules were flop. some were very nice.
that DIP project was their first step to be something more design oriented.
but uniqlo was not about "luxury" in the first place, at least at that point.
whatever, if you don't remember seeing any of them, maybe what you saw and touched were other stuff? I might have missed something in your sentences though.

probably you are referring to this.

what did you get?
I just skimmed, and the bath towel and face towel I would buy myself are 100% cotton of good quality. the prices look decent for what they are.
but anyway, whatever it may be, let's check it for ourselves before buying and going home!

you are welcome bearbrick
glad you like those pics.

i wish there was a uniqlo stickist nearby here
i would have loved to got a chance to see some of the philip lim pieces irl
oh what a shame

so i went into the uniqlo store and checked these things...
that babydoll swtr i like is $169.90......
AT UNIQLO???...

:o

what is that about???......
i have seen too many girls around here wearing tops in the very same style too...
so it's not even a super original or unique design...
so i didn't get it...

i really tried to find the long knit gloves in black cashmere...
but they didn't have any...though they did have the other gloves...

what i think is the best stuff there right now are the puffy vest and puffy cropped jackets...
those are quite cute imo...
you can see them on the website...
but i can't pull the pics off...

which babydoll?

the keita maruyama one is 7990 yen here just for reference.

i mean the black sweater in post #241...

so it is that much more expensive here then....?
:o
i knew that the prices here were higher than in asia....
but that is double...!!!
and it is much more than anything else in the store...
it's a bit shocking to be honest...

:ninja:

the black one is the keita maruyama.
hm then the pricing there sounds strange
since the cardigan in post #238 for example is more expensive here.

this is their second endeavor to take root abroad. they actually failed once, several years ago.
they are trying again now.
but I'm afraid the prospects are gloomy if they really go on like that.

it's true...that is really weird...

btw...
i just heard that they are closing their new jersey stores!...
:o...

i guess it's not going so well at all...
:ninja:...
though the ny store seems to always have people shopping ...
though not as much as before maybe...

the thing is -
the very inexpensive cashmere that they are known for in asia...
is not so inexpensive over here...
unless you are from europe and you have a really great exchange rate of course...
and that is usually who i see with shopping bags from uniqlo...
tourists!...
:p

I visited the NY store just today and to be honest, I was underwhelmed. IMO the actual store is not dissimiliar to H&M, and I doubt many would pay the prices -even for quality- when it feels like the $20 store just a few steps away.

Uniqlo women's clothing is not too bad but the men's clothes- quite frankly, sucks. I don't get the hype at all. The quality is not that great and a bit overpriced. I mean... their tee shirts are decent (whoopee!). That cheap store in downtown (Manhattan) New York didn't have AC or at least fans blowing during the summer... and that store was stuffy!

Uniqlo paper No 3 just came out (the instore "magalog") maybe it has some new keita maruyama and other designers stuff in it...

the set up at the new jersey stores was just disgraceful. the store looked like walmart! they had bins of items with stuff not even on hangers - just thrown in...

it was dumb to set up the stores in the fancy mall towns in new jersey. those people wouldnt get the concept of uniqlo nor would they enjoy sifting through bins of clothing.

there are actual designers that designs uniqlo? o_O
really?

^ Can you believe it? I've see better designs from construction workers. Speaking about the mens line of course
