Designers Switching Houses & Moving to New Brands

And I noticed LVMH did that several times, imho recently the most noticeable exemple is the discontinuation of the "open walk" loafers at Loro Piana, they were so popular they must have accounted for at least 50% of the sales back then. Now you simply can't find them at all, but the brand has continued to evolve, and few people noticed.
They’re absolutely not discontinued lol.

The summer walk in stores are for display only now and have been unavailable - out of stock - on the website for months.
Respectively not true. They are boutique exclusive now and being pulled out of online channels— for now. Brand management move to control a popular item and cross sell other Loro Piana items.

They would never get rid of Open Walk!

For me it’s a toss up between Demna and Rick Owens, but I kind of understand why Rick gets to stay where he is 🤭

“Richard” 🤨

Dick Owens can retire now as far as I’m concerned and take she-who-must-not-be-named with him into obscurity. But at least he has the decency to stay in his own lane, I’ll give him that.

all of them need a break. recently saw works of rob curry... amazing stuff. Could have been great for mcqueen

I meant Demna lol. Richard at least has his own space and I don’t think he’d ever work for anyone else
I think Demna comes in a package deal with Charbit. I strongly believe that one is fighting for his job more than the other…
For me. Demna has nothing more to say but if they manages to flip the script at Balenciaga, all the rewards will go towards Charbit, who may go to a bigger house after.

In reality, all the mess happening at Gucci and the lack of strategy in the whole group benefits someone like Demna. Balenciaga is still in the « other houses » category so it has yet managed to detach itself as a strong brand in the group.

I think Demna is hurting the cachet of the brand on a long term so a rebrand will be necessary for whoever take over.

Bruh I just went to google Charbit and the recommended search was “Cedric Charbit nationality” ☠️ this scandal was so ridiculous omg

The reason why Demna is probably still here is because Charbit is hellbent on Demna's Balenciaga and his superiors are too busy fixing the mess at Gucci to care. Had Gucci Ancora been a success, it would've been a very different story for Balenciaga.

After Demna leaves, the brand will probably be forced to rebrand itself to appeal to the typical luxury demographic. Looking at Ancora, I see post-Demna Balenciaga becoming a very greige version of Ghesquiere's era, but with Olsen-esque flat hair and shoes.

Oh my god whoever has to deal with that is going to be absolutely insane I wouldn't even touch it if I was a professional designer. A brand with a top name with no actual personality. It's all over the place

I thought that duo at Dior was Marc Jacobs ghost designing. Those collections were so Marc.
