Designers Switching Houses & Moving to New Brands

Coming up next, MGC at Fendi...
Wow that’s insane, I wonder what happened because according to what I was told, she didn’t want to go to Fendi at all.

Sad for Fendi. Poor brand and poor customers/staff that will have to deal with her fake intellectualism/feminism.

Call me crazy but I rather work with Kim than with MGC.

Silvia is doing just fine at Fendi without help from anyone. I really do not see what MGC could add to Fendi. Also, if she does go to Fendi, one could assume that the lawsuit she allegedly filed against LVMH was false news ?
Hmm, I doubt it was fake news tbh. People inside the company were talking about it.

That's so interesting that she'd still have a place within LVMH. I feel sad that Silvia is just not allowed to go it alone as she has proven to be more than capable to do so.
Everything is so weird these days tbh. Incredibly amount of rumors, back and forths, things that change super quickly… One day they say one thing, the next one the contrary. I just don’t understand.

I think Fendi needs a fresh start. MGC has the most boring vision: campaigns, shows, clothing, models… everything is so dull and uninteresting. Yeah, she did the book tote but that’s about it. The rest of her bags haven’t been that huge to be honest. I must say though that she did a great job relaunching the LD and the saddle, but the rest… oh dear lord, her RTW was insufferable.

I wish they could find a new talent to take over Fendi. It’s incredibly cheap now and MGC is not fresh at all and has nothing else to say.

End of an era for sure. His aesthetic wasn’t my cup of tea (and it did seem to be stagnant near the end) but I admired the clothing nonetheless - especially the craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Bright side is that it sounds like it’s not the end. More like a break before starting something new. Or at the very least he’s not going away for ever.

Things are indeed really strange these days... Let's see if it gets confirmed because now everything is a rollercoaster... There's a lot of rumours, only because the hiring processes are extra tumultuous considering the state of the industry...

Allegedly, MGC at Fendi, the former JS duo at Loro Piana...

I believe we're in for a ride still for a while as I'm told many who will debut in September have contracts for only a couple of years. It seems that the fact that some of these recents appointments ended up being, let's say, "not so fruitful" business decisions (Burberry, Valentino...) is keeping everyone on their toes.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. What's next for McQueen (McGirr was appointed in late 2023 - will he get renewed?), Marni (next year will mark 10 years of Risso at the house), Diesel (let's see how long Martens juggles both Diesel and Margiela), Bally (is it going to fade back into obscurity or are they going to name another CD eventually?), Proenza (both exited to Loewe early this year) ...

The danger is nowadays there's no time (for customers and industry people) to digest. CDs don't have time to establish their vision and are expected to perform instantly. Creativity is, more than ever, disposable.
