As I always say, the environment we are in is never totally representative of what’s going all over the world.Really? I’ve never seen anyone younger that 50+ buying dior recently. If younger people do buy it it’s a saddle / infamous carryover pieces. The MGC nonsense can be seen on influencers and no more than that
When I travel, I see a lot of young people at Dior. And I’m always surprised because the price point, while decent compared to Chanel for example, is quite disuasive but also the styles are very conventional.
But a lot of young and not so young loves that classic style.
You don’t realize after so many years that you don’t like someone lol.Delphine wanted it...and JWA agreed to leave Loewe too (what would happen if he said no?)...im not sure if Dior was his dream or is it just for power/cv/money....
they just needed and excuse to get rid of MG....maybe they didn't like her....
Maybe MGC is also tired of the back and forth between Italy and France.
But regarding the change, you got to be blind and deaf to not realize the shift happening in the industry regarding the creative directors and the impact it may have on fashion.
To push the consumerism and reignite the Mode Machine, you needs so fresh blood or people who aren’t willing to play safe. And I think for the big machines ( Chanel, Vuitton, Dior), it makes sense.
The intermediary brands like Tom Ford, Givenchy will also re-enter the arena.
I’m so curious however to see how Prada will react to that. MiuMiu has had a great success that has kind of overshadowed the fact that Prada is quite weak from a creative and leading voice POV.
Regarding Celine and Loewe, I think the brands needs to be institutionalized. We will see if they indeed do that or change things again.
