Designers Switching Houses & Moving to New Brands

It just raises even more for me the question of having MGC dragging that farewell tour longer.
Clearly, if they are so ready to move on that JWA is already working on collections for next spring, what’s the point of organizing destination shows for this.

They will probably want the JWA nomination to have an effect on Dior so I suspect that campaigns will come out this summer and they will probably push a new bag or something earlier.
Resort arrives in stores in November. So they are probably going to kill the collection anyway to have the JWA era in stores.
MGC probably was going to milk LVMH dry if her demands were not nearly met.

It's because she knows that fashion history won't be very kind to her.

While MGC holds the title of being Dior's first female creative director and her work was commercially successful, she never produced anything memorable or iconic throughout her entire tenure. JWA is loved by the industry, so if he strikes a chord with Dior's customers, she'll just simply be forgotten, while he gets to build a Galliano-style epic.

It's quite sad, but that's often the fate for designers who have purely customer-centric approaches to design.
