Isn't that authentic vibe lost somewhere along the road from a Berlin dive bar to the Meatpacking District?

How eloquent and poetic! :flower: Needless to say, I agree. In all fairness, I'd like to point out that Raf's prices are not the lightest out there and he is the pioneer of lost youth zeitgeist. And he doesn't have the LVMH suits behind him :ninja:

I don't think one can compare Raf's pricing to Dior Homme's. It's nowhere near as extreme and ridiculous.

I guess it depends on what. Yes, I saw a $130 sweatshirt this past season, but remember the gorgeous shirlings he made for F/W 2003-4? Nobody bought them, even though they were all over i-D's editorials. To my question why I was told, "too expensive". I agree that his prices are not as expensive as Hedi's (at least Raf doesn't make $300 tshirts), but they are not the lightest for someone who is youth oriented, that's all I'm saying. :flower:

The watch sounds insane.

That's my problem with Dior Homme. How can a label that feeds so much on a youth energy and a street energy turn around and sell a $13,000 watch? Isn't that authentic vibe lost somewhere along the road from a Berlin dive bar to the Meatpacking District? It makes me feel as if Hedi's lost youth obsession is such a fake, such a phony come-on. But then again I'm sure he's not at the forefront of churning out these trashy, tacky accessories.

i completely agree. dior homme's allure comes from that dark berlin space that slimane obssesses over but even he must admit that something that rigid doesn't have the mass appeal expected from houses as lucrative as dior....enter the logoed ipod case....does anyone remember those REALLY nice leather ipod cases he made a couple years ago? now those were pure, this is sad.

I used to have one of those. The Plisse leather which was an homage to Christian Dior's love of pleats.

Actually I bought the case before getting the iPod. But I never got around getting the actual machine.

Actually, www.Eluxury.com is owned by LVMH so everything they sell is authentic. This is most of the brands have actual links to tha site. and the dior items listed above are actually that bad, the belt is around 245.oo and its just nylon!

Below is a section form the F&Q portion of Eluxury.com

Credentials
Unlike some web sites that offer a limited selection of luxury items and that have no ties to the brands they carry, eLUXURY is owned by LVMH (Moet, Hennessey, Louis Vuitton), which owns many of the world's most prestigious labels.

Thus eLUXURY is uniquely positioned to provide its customers with the insider's edge on the hottest trends in luxury.

And, because of the trusted relationships we have with all the brands we carry, such as Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior, you can shop with confidence.

AUTHORIZED RETAILER
eLUXURY is an authorized e-commerce retailer for all brands presented on the eLUXURY Web site and guarantees the authenticity of all products.

Thank you, Holland. But I don't know if anyone here was questioning the authenticity of the Dior Homme items. We were just saying they were tacky as hell. Thanks, though! :flower:

Please wait for a Customer Service Professional to respond.
You are now chatting with Randall. To better serve you, please give us your name.

you: Hey, it's Nader

Randall: Hello. How may I assist you?

you: I was looking at the Dior Homme stuff, but all I found was a belt and a wallet. I was wondering if you guys are gonna be getting any more Dior homme stuff any time soon

Randall: That's a good question.

you: :)

Randall: Please check back in early September, more items may arrive by then.

you: Let's hope. Your site will definitely be getting a lot more traffic/business with more Dior Homme :)

you: Thank you for the help Randy

Randall: We are completely excited to finally see some of the items start to arrive.

you: Yeah.. I was surprised to see some there... but to be completely honest, and I in no way mean to disrespect your site, but I hope to see better stuff in September... The "Military Bee Belt" i find is a little overpriced for what you're getting

Randall: I understand, however, if you find this price point high, you may not find our next shipment appealing.

Randall: I returned from Paris two weeks ago seeing the new Dior items, they are amazing, but not at all inexpensive.

Randall: If you are registered on our site, you should receive updates when the collection is launched.

you: Oh I'm jealous now!! Fall's stuff is amazing, but Hedi's stuff is notoriously overpriced... However, I do not mind investing in good clothes if I'm gonna get good wear out of it.. It's just that I find $200+ for a belt made of canvas to be pushing it a little.

you: How can I register?

Randall: Please click here to receive e-mail updates (https://secure.eluxury.com/secure/account/registration1.jhtml)

---- I then mentioned the 13k watch :)

you: I'm sure you guys won't go too crazy with the prices, like that reputed $13,000 chrono dior homme watch... Thank you for the link!

Randall: You're welcome. I would love to see us carry the watch, but items like that do require a very limited exposure. We should have some less costly men's jewellry items from the Follow Me line.

you: I'll be watching closely. Thanks a lot!!

Randall: You're welcome. You probably have seen the runway show at www.style.com, or at www.dior.com, that is the best place to see updates, but Jeffrey in New York and the Dior Homme location at 57th Street in New York are the best spots for the latest news.....until we begin to see the line this fall.

Randall: The UK version of GQ online has better mens fashion show coverage than any of the US magazine reporters, it's a good resource as well, but not complete at all for accessories.

you: Yeah I go to style.com all the time for updates... LVMH needs to seriously stick a Dior store in Toronto on Bloor with the other boutiques. You'd make a killing!!!

Randall: That is a frequent request. Dior will finally have womens Ready to Wear in Vancouver this September, hopefully Toronto Dior womens' will follow, but for men, we don't have any updates.

you: Oh I've been to the UK GQ site but it always runs painfully slowly for some reasons.

Randall: At present, it is not available in LA, let alone San Francisco, Toronto, Chicago or Vancouver, very very limited.

so yeah... some info there. I didnt just wanna outright say that the belt was cheesy...

Hear that Chanel_girl? I'm sure you'll enjoy having a dior nearby :D I'm sure you already know about it though!

If dior homme were to come out with cheaper and more accesible line around the same price range of urban outiftters, they would make so much money. Hipsters, skaters, muscians, could then actually afford the clothes.

ahh but then no one would want it except the hipsters, skaters, and musicians that could actually afford it...the dior homme customer of today, for the most part, would evaporate right along with the high prices.

For any kind person with access to WGSN , there is a headline about ' watches ' , that Hedi Slimane has designed for DIOR HOMME . :o

Would some kind person care to post this news story ? :P

I'd LOVE to see what $13000 fashion watches look like . ;)

KIT

Who on earth spends $13,000 on a fashion watch anyway? Maybe on a beautiful Patek, IWC, Vacheron, Piaget, Breguet, etc., etc. But a Dior watch? It better be incredible!
