VotC is OK, but slightly awkward acronym for SS06. TWWAMBHHWP. Probably wont catch on.

Chinorlz! haha, funny you mention that Luster jacket. A friend of mine in Hong Kong has the exact same jacket, only some time ago, he lost the sleeves in a club after he took them off and forgot about them. needless to say, he was heartbroken!

great jacket nonetheless, pictures can't do it justice.

drexl, the jacket is fairly warm. My friend let me borrow it during last winter time whilst in Hong Kong (well he let me borrow it without the sleeves) and it held up pretty well with only a cashmere turtleneck on underneath. However, that is wintertime in Hong Kong, I really doubt it can hold up to the negative +'s in Montreal, you'd need something with fur lining I'd reckon. Or perhaps those hideous baby blue down jackets from A/W 05? :P

- Cheers

That last page of posts has just cracked me up ! Though i feel for your friend, Matt, poor guy must have been really heartbroken, i would've!

Faust & Albert, absolutely amazing jackets. I guess Luster was the season for blousons, i swear there isn't one from that season that could be considered ugly?!

I guess this confirms that Luster was indeed the pinnacle of DH and Hedi's genius (along with Solitaire/AW'01), but then, we all knew that.

I pause for thought to think what the Napoleon would look like if it was produced in leather? :innocent: :woot:

Well if we're showing items that we regret (sort of regret in Faust's case:D ) selling... here's one:

What sucks is I sold it for what I paid for it because I wanted the money at the time:doh: to buy something else... which I later on sold anyways... and now I can't remember who I sold this jacket to!

Talk about regret!
Believe me, I tried to make that one work too! The sleeves are just absurdly long, and you can't bunch them up. Too bad you sold it, you were so enthusiastic about getting it! So, people, how do you like my couch? :-)

Luster, that's such an awesome jacket. The simpler version (without zip-off sleeves and minus the details on the cuffs) popped up a couple of times on Ebay. Is it a warm jacket, by the way? I've been comtemplating it and was wondering if it can hold up to Canadian winters :D

Very warm, nicely padded.

Woot!

:woot: THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!

I always wanted this figured out and I think SS2006 = TWWAMBHHWP. Saw that in the DH website. This is the song by The Rakes for Dior Homme for the runway show.

By the way, does anyone know anyone selling the VoTC Arm Warmers?

I guess it would have looked really awful, with all the details going on, this would have been a really busy piece in leather... and just consider the weight as well...

Yes, Luster had definitely been the strongest collection imagewise, but from what I´ve seen on real people, only very few could pull off that look without looking as if they tried so hard. I am not so much a fan of the "Napoleon" jacket to be honest, I think it looks a little boxy, especially with all those fringes and multiple epaulettes, I see it more as an object, not as a piece you would actually wear. This goes for most of the strong pieces shown on the runway, I´ve seen so many faux-pas, especially with the fringed turtleneck sweater and Napoleon jacket...

Looking back on the older collections from the garments alone, I must say that Follow Me had definitely been the most well-balanced season for me, it had ALL the signatures, from the elegant glam rock, to the safari jackets and inventive takes on evening jackets, as well as the diversity of silhouettes, from the highwaisted, widelegged judo pants to the skinny jeans and dresspants.

I really was Faust, but at the time... I guess something came along that I felt that I wanted more and whatever it was, I don't even remember now so it was clearly a mistake!

Everybody Just Looks The Same

I DON'T KNOW
WHAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT
AND I TRULY HOPE THAT EVERTYHING IS ALRIGHT
I AM ONE OF THOSE WHO IS HOLDING BACK FROM JUDGING
THE WORST THING IS NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU LET ME DOWN,
I CAN'T STOP CARING
MY HEART IS IN TATTERS
AND FOR WHAT?
FOR SOMEONE WHO I HAVE NO CONTACT WITH
I DON'T UNDERSTAND

THIS IS HOW MUCH I CARE

YOU CAN TURN AROUND
BREAK HUNDREDS OF HEARTS
A SINGLE INSTANT
SOMETHING I COULD NEVER COMPREHEND
IN GENERAL
MY HEART IS BROKEN
AND THE WORST PART IS
I FEEL RESPONSIBLE

Drexl,
I own this jacket. It's very warm, overkill for a Vancouver winter, woulda kept me warm enough when I was spending winters in Montreal. Seems to me it's sold on ebay for quite cheap, 600 range the last one, in popular size 48, I think? Recently a 48 popped up on yoox, listed at 450, lasted about 5 minutes. It's great, like the detail, and the cut, especially the back which is nipped a bit at the waist so the the flaps stick out a bit, particularly when it's zipped up.

hmmm drexl, everyone so far seems to indicate otherwise insofar as warmthness goes for the jacket. I may be biased because I had worn the jacket without its sleeves, and for me, anything less than an actual overcoat I find to be insufficient for harsh Canadian weather.

I've been in Montreal twice during the winter and I remember it to be VERY cold, freezing even when packed on with layers of clothing, but perhaps it has to do with me feeling cold easily? Who knows. That is not to say it is not a warm jacket, but I felt that on its own, it was only very sufficient for a HK winter which is much similar to Vancouver winters (only without snow) and with only one slightly thick layer underneath (like i said, I wore a cashmere turtleneck underneath). It is certainly a beautiful jacket, and if you find a good deal, do not hesitate to purchase it, but I would imagine if worn in Montreal's wintertime, you should think about packing on the layers and perhaps even throw on a scarf, because I still don't think it to be sufficient for harsh Canadian winter when worn on it's own.

-Cheers

Hmm, yeah probably the jacket I own (plainer version, regular sleeves) wouldn't cut it for the coldest winter days in montreal which with wind chill factored in were about minus 100 celcius somedays as I recall. But I do think it would have cut it for most days -- I wore something with about the same insulation and had to layer up only occasionally. HOWEVER, if you buy this luster jacket in your size not much is going to fit comfortably underneath because it is very close fitting (which adds to the warmth effect).

Just picked up this book f*cked Up + Photocopied last weekend and came across a picture that I find quite familiar. Now I know the Lovewound shirt supposedly has its roots in literature whatever, but I do wounder if this may be more of an influence? It looks exactly like the guys on the left so hmmmm. . .

Hey guys,

I need your help. Can you post some hi-res images of Dior Jeans, preferably from earlier collections, and especially in black? I need images for a new blog entry. TIA.

Have you guys looked at the new spring/summer stock so far at YOOX????? Bunches of S/S 05. ALL sold out.

Yeah, someone bought the bubblegum pink leather blazer in 38 for $1,400 too.

I don't understand why it sells insanely fast. The leather jacket was like $1800 and it was gone.

The same leather jacket was on sale at Barneys for $1200 and no one wants it last season...

I don't think the pricing on some of the Dior homme stuff on Yoox is that cheap anymore... am I the only one who feels that???

I never felt it was really cheap, but that may also be because it never lasts until the signifcant markdowns happen.

Consignment Shops in NYC

Ina Men and Tokio 7 would always have Dior Homme on a regular basis.

Right now, there's a coated black denim in a size 29 at Ina Men. And there's this black sweater with gold paint on it. I'm sure it's marked down already. And I saw 2 suede boots, in black and camel. Not sure about the sizes. You can call them at 212 334 2210. They always carry amazing pieces, and other "it" labels.
